i saw a video where they filled a balloon with nitrous, and they had 3 things.
the cartdrige, the balloon and then i don't know the word for the other thing they used

Look up argon gas. It reduces oxygen from bottom of room and pushes it up, if person is low to ground and exposed for long period of time, its fatal. Utube shows worker died from trapped argon gas in an enclosed area, and some other worker tried to help and he died. Research just shows you pass out n if room is like a small bathroom or closet sealed and u release 80scf of gas, sold online in us with del right to your doorstep, with sealed bathroom, sit or lay on floor bc thats where gas stays..if the 02 drops to certain level or you're exposed for long period of time, its fatal. U dont get choking or panic per the research. Online some guy put bag over head with tube to tank but his parents found him 1hr in, so he wasnt exposed long enough. No success plus if bag wasnt sealed enough it would push gas out the bottom. But in unventilated confined space outcome could be different.

I think drowning is best. No setup required, not visible to passerby once you're submerged even if there happen to be some at night/in the early morning, impossible to survive unless you are found or you somehow wake up due to increased cerebral blood flow from the compensatory response (unlikely given severe hypoxia as O2 levels will plummet), which becomes progressively less likely as submersion time increases - meaning ostensibly low risk of brain damage from it, so you could just attempt again.

It's probably too tricky to do in a bathtub. How would you ensure that your neck was weighed down at just the right time, for instance?

Vacation rental with private indoor pool would be ideal (as long as there are no hidden cameras), but it's almost impossible to find.

Ocean will increase chances of washing up on the shore.

All in all, IMO, the best option is probably a lake or river. Don't do it too deep because the chance of waking up will be higher due to pressure increase. And don't do it in cold water because you can be resuscitated for longer.
