I've been looking for methods over and over again yet failed to find one, each one of them has different kind if problems.
Either fast and painless but not accessible (guns), painless and reliable but too complicated to setup (exit bag), satisfying all the necessary criterias but no discreet place to do (partial hanging).

I was thinking about just buying a nitrogen tank and opening it in a car, how would that work? Or what about carbon monoxide poisoning? Although I'm not exactly sure how that works. How can I do carbon monoxide poisoning? I make the car work in a closed space? Or what about just buying a nitrogen tank and opening it in a tank? Those are the only accessible methods that I can think of, considering the fact that I'm living with my parents.

Someone recently asked about nitrogen in a car:

See here for information on carbon monoxide:

Yeah, nitrogen is paired with an exit bag for a reason. If it weren't, people would just use it the way you're describing. My best guess is that the amount of nitrogen that ✨might✨be capable of being lethal in a car with no exit bag would cost thousands, and even then, it's still likely to fail.

Then at the very least, would there be enough, reliable place to use an exit bag in a car?

I don't think I'm understanding your question. There's no reason why an exit bag setup can't be used in a car, except if someone sees you & decides to save you.

I was asking that in a manner that if the nitrogen tanks would fit in a car, and if it wouldn't be very tight in a car to ctb with nitrogen.

Oh. If you plan to use it with an exit bag it mask, then yes, the tank needed would definitely fit, they aren't huge or anything.

A 300 cu ft nitrogen tank only costs $300 and you wouldn't need a regulator or hoses. The gas only costs $25-$40. You would need three tanks to be safe. One to push out the air and another to keep positive pressure inside the car to keep air out. The last tank is for the always worthwhile overdoing. So all in maybe a grand.

But you are correct that it wouldn't really work well without a bag. Another thing to consider is that any oxygen will turn into CO2 which will cause you to gasp for air in distress. Nitrogen is only painless if there isn't any CO2 present as its the CO2 level in blood that stimulates the urge to breathe.

Finally having a car filled with an inert or toxic gas is a risk to public safety. Anyone who sees you might attempt a rescue and end up dying also. Please use a bag.

Fuck it, nitrogen seems among the best methods here but the setup seems too complicated to me, put the regulator do this do that nanani nanana, wish could just use it in a car.

This is helpful, thank you! I was in the fence about nitrogen and now definitely want to go with helium.

What about setting up the regulator? Do you just put it in?
If you search the forum, there are lots of very detailed posts on nitrogen exit bag setups.

If you have the money, time, and patience to get it set up, I think it's the best option there is. I'd never do it in a car though, partly because it would be really visible to anyone walking by that something was seriously wrong and the chance of being interrupted is high.

Unfortunately I don't live alone, so my plan is to (if I ever get the means to) do it in a car in a discreet place. Pretty sure there would be no one if I go to a forest in the middle of nowhere.

pure helium is hard to come by and its also more expensive than nitrogen, both are inert gases, and they will displace oxygen the same, nitrogen is now considered the "gold standard" gas by exit international to use for this method for this reason, even with helium youd still have to sort out the regulator, tubing, and make the exit bag, and you would still need the same amount of gas

Helium is a pain in the ass also. It tends to escape if you aren't careful because the atoms are so small. You gotta make sure your valves are in good condition and tight or you are gonna lose some gas over time.

Also Balloon Time and other consumer helium tanks from party stores contain LOADS of oxygen or air (up to 40% air!) in them for safety and to be cheap. I made an attempt a few years ago using two of those kind of tanks and did not even pass out. Very annoying and a waste of money.

Saving up money for a cheap hotel room might be another option.

Sigh. That is disappointing. I thought maybe helium was different. I remember you saying you got close with the helium and it felt peaceful. I dont want to be choking and gasping for air. I appreciate the education though. The inert gas thread is long and I cant find the bit about the regulator. What does that do and why is it needed?

I'm pretty sure they are gonna be suspicious if they see me arriving with 2 giant tanks, no? Also, I need an exit strategy so I come back home as if nothing ever happened if I can't make it work out, which is why I thought a car is a good idea.
But according to Grok, it's dangerous to put 2 nitrogen tanks in a car, is that true?

that is true, but helium and nitrogen both work the same so if i got close with helium it would be similar for nitrogen, basically you need the regulator because gas tanks dispense at quite a high pressure, without a regulator, it could potentially blow the bag straight off your head, with a regulator, the gas flows into the bag as a rate which is able to flush out co2 as it is breathed out

One tank is more than enough to test out the setup and make sure that everything is working and also have enough left over to ctb. Don't use AI for this. There is plenty of information on here about exit bags using nitrogen. Search the forum. Grok doesn't know shit about fuck and is going to give you bad information.

LLMs are predicting the next word in a sentence based on the information they were trained on. That's it. There's no intelligent processing of information. If you rely on that to plan your suicide and things go wrong, that's on you. And when you're messing around with potentially fatal activities, things going wrong can look like ending up a vegetable, or crippled. .

I'd also say that anyone who's not able to spent time reading and researching their chosen method because of their depression or whatever isn't mentally competent enough to make this decision and should focus of getting appropriate mental health help.

Anyway, when transporting tanks, there is a slight danger in transporting them in your car. Because if you get in a car accident, you've got a pressurized canister that can act like a missile. Transport the tank that you need secured in the footwell of your car, don't let it roll around your trunk. This information was on this website five years ago when I was researching this method and it is still here now. Use the search function and reqd the posts on this.

No, that's why your comment on the preference for helium seemed so odd to the rest of us. Can't be done without a regulator, flowmeter, and tubing. I bought a three in one combined (all in the same box) to make things as simple to set up as possible.

To keep them hidden in the car? I put mine in a cart on wheels that kinda looks like a laundry basket, I put a blanket on top so it just looked like I was wheeling a cart full of laundry into my building, it didn't look the least bit out of the ordinary.

You can't bring them home even if they stayed in the suitcases? I suppose my uneducated guess is that it might be ok, as long as they're secured in some way & not rolling around in the suitcases while you're driving. I'm not sure if low temperatures might impact them though… that may be something worth asking. Maybe just ask when you buy them if they can be stored in your car & for how long. I'm thinking it would be best to buy them as close to when you CTB as possible if they're going to stay in the car. I hope some others chime in & give you more feedback on this.
