Found definite methods that work in treating them. Maybe. Was wondering what you guys have done in order to cease (or at least decrease) usage?

I don't know about p0rn, my attitude about that is "no big deal" unless you're into something illegal. How does p0rn cause negative consequences in your life, but you can't stop looking at it, watching it, or downloading it despite the consequences?

Nicotine -- assuming smoking -- on the other hand can kill you. And if it doesn't kill you it can make you sick. And if it doesn't make you sick, it can bankrupt you. But in order to quit, you need a compelling reason, as in "How does this make my life miserable right now?" rather than, "Oh I might die from cancer some time in the indefinite future". For me, that time came when they made a rule at work that you couldn't smoke closer than 50 yards from the building, and we were on the second floor. Also, we worked 10 hour shifts and had variable lunch and break times, so we might end up having to wait hours before we could even get outside to smoke. Having nicotine withdrawal at work is not fun.

Then you need a stop smoking aid. I used nicotine lozenges (the gum totally sucks and I never tried the patches). You'll have to find one that works for you.

Good luck!

I only quit chocolate and pornography. Chocolate - because I wanted to extort my mom for money to buy MLBB skins instead. Pornography - because my PC got a multimedia bug precluding to play any videos, and I was too fucking lazy to reboot it for a month (but all it led to was me lying in bed degenerating with my phone).

I don't care about "porn addiction", but I simply quited smoking after consuming nicotine gum for a couple of weeks, since I just noticed that I feel less urge to take one and they were bit expensive to buy too. I still have urges sometimes to smoke something, mainly because I smoke pot pretty regularly and find smoking relaxing while I'm nerved out- it's still bad for my health, but I don't currently have money to buy a bong or vaporizer.

There are types of porn that are bad for your mental health (extreme abuse porn, etc,...).

Also, it skews your views on what a healthy, normal relationship should look like regarding sex and it's also very misogynistic.

A lot of porn actresses and actors commit suicide (https://torontosun.com/news/world/death-in-pornland-starlets-who-met-an-early-end-in-smut-biz) because once they're in the industry, they're pressured to perform, since once you do it once, your reputation is basically ruined and you have to keep making videos to make money.

What about having kids and them finding out you did porn? What would their school lives look like if their friends found out?

What kind of job wants to hire an ex porn actress or actor?

Could you imagine the embarrassment you would face at a job after your co-workers find out you did porn? They would be able to look it up and see your naked body performing one of the most intimate acts known to man.

Also, there are the drugs that you need to take to perform as most sets are hours long (it's not just the edited version or end product you see on your screen). Those drugs are usually Meth, GHB, Ecstasy, combined with Viagra.

Also all major banks pulled out of pornhub.com because they were hosting CP and rape victim videos. They deleted 1/4th of their library a while back because the ages of the performers weren't verified. This is sketchy as fuck.

It's not all good my friend.

Perfectly phrased. Very informative.
Thank you...

To add to that, I'm not a sanctimonious hypocrite and am trying to quit porn myself... As again, it's bad but it's an easy dopamine hit for one mouse click, a search engine search, and a couple more mouse clicks.

Found that the reptillian brain responds very differently to still-imagery, as compared to video. GIFs count as video. Annoying.

I didn't say it was all good. Nor was I expecting a sermon on the negative aspects of the porn industry. Geez.

The short definition of an addition is "a neuropsychological disorder characterized by a persistent and intense urge to use a drug or engage in a behavior that produces natural reward, despite substantial harm and other negative consequences" (Wikipedia). I'm taking his describing himself as a "porn addict" to mean that he believes he is a consumer of an unhealthy amount of porn. And my reaction would be, OK, but how does looking at porn cause him substantial harm and/or negative consequences. Porn would be a gray area.

Much more so than smoking.

Sorry about that. Should've worded it more precisely.

That's fine. Best of luck getting rid of every habit that's causing you trouble.

Which reminds me. Do you know why the man decided to get a job doing laundry in a convent? He wanted to see if the nuns had any dirty habits.

I based my response on you saying that it's no big deal. And I'm not saying you're saying it's all good. I'm just pointing out the harms of the porn industry.

If I can make a suggestion, which you probably already have thought about, assuming you get your p0rn fix from the internet, and without sparking a discussion of whether the p0rn industry is "good" or "bad"...

You're going to have to limit your access to the internet. You can buy brand new "dumb phones" out there if you want. It's a niche product; there's companies out there who manufacture text-only phones, mainly for people who are tired of looking at TikTok or Instagram or Facebook on their phones all day and feel they can't help it. You could find someone to lock up your computer and phone for most of the day and only allow you use access when you're being supervised. (And, of course, you'll have to throw away any DVDs/media with p0rn on them that you have.)

OK I'm done, good luck to you!
