By that logic, we should have coppers posted outside every pub and shop, arresting binge drinkers and alcoholics since they are by definition engaging in self harm via drug use.
This country has an esoteric drinking culture where engaging in endless alcoholism is encouraged and celebrated. The longterm health of millions is ruined by drink. Yet, where are the parliamentary motions to ban vodka and whiskey from being sold in shops?
They love to pick and choose what constitutes as self injurious. People venting on a forum is definitely the reason why suicides have increased, definitely not the abhorrent job prospects, bust housing market, and lack of social care and support for those in need.
Then again, this is the same government who recently introduced anti-protest legislation and covid vaccine passports for young people wanting to party in nightclubs.
Starting in September, you are not allowed to provide a negative test result or proof of covid antibodies to enter a club, you must have proof of being double jabbed, and it must be documented on the NHS app.
This proves that the government does not a damn about vunerable people, if they did, proof of a negative test result would suffice in order to protect people who have been advised not to take the vaccines.
All they care about is power and control, and this is no different. The article in question purports that these measures are to suppress bullying. In theory, that's wonderful.
In practice, these draconian rules will likely be used to crack down on pro-choice spaces like SS where users can freely speak their minds about the pain they are going through without being censored or force fed platitudes.
Of course, most citizens are going to eat it up because they support authoritarian measures if they are introduced under the guise of keeping people safe. No one cares about seeing the facts and data.
The reality is the vast majority of users on this site will not ctb. However, spindoctors will use an emotionally charged headline to create a false narrative that this place is some sort of death cult rather than a beacon of support for those who truly have no where else to go.
Shame on them.
