I have accidentally come very close. Walking along the road it hit the aerial on a house I was passing. It was such a loud crash and flash off light. The air was really alive for want of a better word. Melted the aerial metal and left it bent and hanging upside down. I was healthy and well at the time and it was quite exhilarating but now I might just be pissed off that it came so close without taking me.
In all seriousness it's unlikely you will get a reply from anybody who has managed to get struck lol.
It would a quick end I expect. Sometimes I think, "it would be a blessing if something just took me and relieved me of the job and guilt". I'll be interested to read any replies. I guess you could watch the weather intently and make sure to be high up or in an open feild with an umbrella at the right moment. Also fly fishermen have to get out of the water when the weather turns as their rods attract the lightning. Especially carbon fibre rods apparently. So that's an option.

People who survive a lightning strike usually have health injuries long-term. Though there's little doubt that an extreme strike would be fatal.

You can try going to Lake Maracaibo in Venezuela, considered the capital of lightning by NASA.
I wonder if people actually do that in this case- go out on the lake with a big metal pole on your boat on something like that.
