Just wanting some peace

Under no circumstances would I ever wish for the hell that is old age, I find it terrifying and horrific how a human can potentially exist for so long. Old age is just extreme, unbearable suffering with most ending up with dementia or some agonising painful disease that tortures them until they die anyway, it really disturbs me how there is no limit as to how much one can suffer as long as they exist.

It truly is an abomination to be enslaved in this flesh prison that is destined to deteriorate and decay that can cause such immense agony. I'd always prefer to peacefully not exist than to suffer so pointlessly for decades in this existence that was always so meaningless in the first place just to be tormented by old age.

To have the ability to exist as a human is so hopeless and what really disgusts me is how suicide isn't accepted as a valid option even know nobody asked for this in the first place, it's all meaningless and we are all going to die anyway. Denying people the option of a painless exit is a crime, pro-lifers are sadists who want people to suffer for as long as possible, more than anything I wish I never existed at all, it's just so hellish how there's no acceptance towards the fact that not everyone wishes for the hell that is old age.

I used to say that and now I am not only in the hell of old age but x3 or more. Old, disabled and in a lot of pain. Maybe x infinity when u take into consideration trying to survive on a social security check that's not enough to live on anywhere in America and probably the world 🌍. You are not wrong. You don't want to get here

Same here, if I ever get rid of depression, my current approach will haunt me and bite me in the ass. I'm going to spend eternity at the dentist, orthopedist, neurologist and all other kinds of doctors because I tend to treat my body like there's no tomorrow..

And the only guaranteed way to avoid the inevitable breakdown of the body is to force death upon it early, something that is guaranteed to involve some sort of trauma by design.

Isn't life great?

I feel for you, that sounds awful.
You are not alone, at least. I think many of us will find ourselves in similar positions.

Wasn't supposed to make it to 30. 31 now. Emotional fluctuation drops, responsibilities go up, energy goes down . . . ctb only becomes less likely.

I think it's completely dependent upon many factors. Some within, some outside of your control. Diet, lifestyle, and habits are all within your control. Genetics play a huge role in how prone you are to certain conditions. You could be entirely healthy at 40, but say your family has a history of cancer, WHAM! It could happen to anybody. I would say in general, 35 or so is when the decline starts. You show signs of aging, your energy is less, but I don't imagine it would be terribly noticeable. At 45, I would say the signs become more noticeable, and by 55-60, it is simply even worse. I would say with age comes some benefits, but not many compared to the downsides. You're likely more financially stable assuming you've worked in and stayed in a career and attained tenure or switched to a higher paying one. You have wisdom and more knowledge of life with age. It's also scientifically documented that older people are less likely to have anxiety or panic as the changes that occur in the brain with age, not to mention senior citizen discounts.

I'm very much reaching on the benefits as I do genuinely feel that there's far more downsides and I don't think one set age determines when it gets bad as it's a person-by-person thing.

It truly is awful that's why I am on this app. Hope you don't find yourself here. Really don't feel like wanting to die should be treated as mental illness without taking into consideration why someone feels that way.

Aging is the ultimate cruelty of living. Some cases are just terrible. Absolutely no one knows what will happen. Always the same terror torturing the mind. The last case I saw was a lady that everyone knew smiling, happy and extremely friendly. Unable to not be kind to everyone. She suddenly fell ill and is now in bed without any action. My wife visited her and was in shock. All his life force was gone. Why this suffering? And it's right there, waiting for everyone in an evil lottery.

It didn't take a turn for me until quite recently, at about age 64, although the pandemic probably had something to do with that as well. Many people live quite comfortably nearly until they die, but I think that's the minority.

Some people seem to enjoy it...they have great grandchildren and so on and watching all of that brings them joy that counterbalances the physical decrepitude. But I wouldn't judge anyone harshly for exiting in that situation...or as a younger person for that matter.
