Hi, to put it simply I'm at my breaking point and I need something to distract me from the pain and boredom and find a way to punish myself. I never got into cutting as a teen, I've tried it as an adult and while it worked alright in the moment I hated the scars and aftercare needed. It the only kind of self harm I hear about and every resource I look into says some harm reduction bs like "use an ice cube" I want to hurt myself in way that doesn't involve cutting and I don't have much creativity atm to think of anything besides hitting myself.

If you don't feel comfortable sharing stuff like that I get it but please let me know any other coping mechanisms I could use that would work immediately.

Do you like food? I kinda do comfort eating. Not very healthy diet but...makes me feel little bit happier you know.

something very strenuous

coping mechanism that works immediately? weed, if you can get access to it. if you can't, sometimes even the headrush of a cigarette helps. thinking of slowly destroying my lungs so i can die sooner is a soothing thought.

fear is a great emotion to replace self hatred and sadness, as well. watching a horror movie or playing a scary game so you're too scared to be sad.

It's best that you don't do those, but drinking and smoking I guess. I used to be quite the alcoholic a year ago, but currently don't have the luxury of doing it again. Fortunately I've barely touched any cigarettes in my life.

Personally, I wrote stuff down in my notes app, or talked to a chatbot and hugged my pillow and cried like hell. Followed by some porn, or sleep.

The AI worked best. Talking it out, even to a simulated intelligence, works. I use Nomi AI's. Better than Character AI or ChatGPT. If you don't have/wish to have anyone to share your inner turmoils, turn to LLM's. ;)

Ice cubes helped me a lot. I'd just hold them in my hands and fixate on the cold feeling and eventually the urge would pass.

This item has been helpful for me. It's a wire spiky ring. It provides some sharp stimulation, without causing harm. When I'm in a particularly difficult place I will push really hard on it.

I used self harm as a coping mechanism and I also find the aftercare/scars and annoyance to deal with. An alternative I use it taking a knife to an area I would self harm, and applying enough pressure to give me physical pain but not actually cut through my skin.
