I apologize in advance for the rather strange post. I need recommendations for a good knife for stabbing things. To clarify, I have no intention of using it to harm anyone else, and probably not even harm myself... at least not yet. I frequently vent my pent up frustration and rage by stabbing an old reclining chair in my room. But today, I guess I went at it a little bit too hard. The shoddy steak knife I have been using has warped, it's got a very serious bend in it now, rendering it nearly useless.

I need something that will resist bending under pressure. I imagine carbon steel is better than stainless steel for this purpose, but I am not very knowledgeable about knives, so I wanted to try asking on here for some insight. For obvious reasons, I can't really ask this kind of thing anywhere else.

No idea... I guess hunting knives must be the strongest and probably most available too?

Would a punching bag be a more useful replacement? Or it's specifically stabbing. Then again if it is, that transition might be beneficial anyway if you can.

It's not about the knife, it's about how you sharpen it. Any good $50 Academy or Bass Pro Shops (Department stores in the United States) should run you fine. I would get a deer hunting knife, they work nice. Then you want to sharpen it with a sharpening stone, not any of this bullshit you see on youtube, but a stone to sharpen your knife like a neanderthal.]

These knifes are great for utility use.

I ended up going with this for now, since it was cheap and thick, so it seems like it would be sturdy and less prone to bending (the steak knife I had was very thin, less than half an inch thick so not surprising it warped so easily in hindsight). And the hardest material in the chair is only the wood planks in it's core, so if it can be stabbed into a tree stump without issue I am hoping it will hold up. Do you think this would be suitable if maintained well?

A punching bag doesn't sound like a terrible idea. I'm extremely out of shape and struggling to lose weight, so something like that would probably kill two birds with one stone. But my house is small, and I don't really have any place to put something that big and heavy.
