Hey ya'll. I've decided to ctb and have chosen hanging as my choice.

I've gotten my hands on a Everbilt 3/4-inch Polypropylene Heavy-Duty Twisted Rope with 990 lb. Safe Working Load rope (I weigh 170 lbs at 6 feet) and have decided to tie it to a metal basement beam.

Now here's the dilemma. I've tried hanging before but I seem to be a little too tall. (I slowly lowered myself off the chair and if I jumped off instead, I might've broken my neck and not have been able to get back up). Although, I was wearing pretty tall sandals whilst doing it so maybe that could be adjusted, but in case taking them off doesn't help, I need to know how I would do partial. Is partial even worth it? Is it as likely to get me dead?

So what I need to know is:

-What knots do I tie on both ends?
-Is there any way to make it less painful. I can buy drugs off the street so any recommendations?
-How to jump off the chair?
-How much time do I need alone?
-How would partial work. How would I lean and where does the knot go on my neck? Is it below the adams apple or above? Is it different for full suspension?
-I'm open towards other methods aswell. I don't have access to a gun so anything else that has a high mortality rate? Is there anything with as high of a rate as hanging aside from a gunshot?

I really need this info so please if you have an answer for me, that'd be great and thanks to whoever helps me out. I tried looking around the site for general info but I'd much rather someone gives me an exact answer. I wish you all a good day.

Highly doubt you're going to break your neck jumping from the height of a chair.

Are you sure? Isn't it possible if I do it quick and there's a jerk motion? Plus, is jumping that much better than slowly lowering myself anyways?

Lots of good questions. I'll be very brief, and to the point, because if I answered everything in detail, the answer would be too long. These are just my opinions below.

- Rope: It looks ok-ish. I would prefer braided, but you can test it with your knots etc. It's definitely strong enough.
- You'll most likely not break your neck unless it's a long drop.
- I would not bother with partial, personally. Too unreliable.
- For the noose, I like the Noose Knot with a stopper knot on the fixed end. Maybe a Poacher's Knot, but that's a bit stiffer, doesn't slide as easily.
- I would not 'jump', but I would commit decisively, fully. I would be afraid of hesitation, as it will likely lead to failure.
- Time alone: At least 30 min as far as I know. I would plan with a safe margin of error, and be absolutely certain to not be found. Being found at the wrong time can lead to being rescued with permanent brain damage.
- Expect some pain/discomfort. It's subjective. Some people choose hanging because they expect it to be relatively painless. Some people avoid it, because they think it's painful. The 'painlessness' mainly comes from it's quick nature (~10 sec to lose consciousness). The rope will be uncomfortable/painful, obviously. How much? Depends on the person, I guess.
- Other methods with high lethality, as far as I know: Jumping from enough height, on a hard surface. Drowning with weights attached. (But avoid being seen and rescued! Can lead to brain damage.) Guns, as you said.

You need to be a lot higher up (couple meters) and have a very strong anchor and rope. Its nearly impossible for anyone to do outside of actual official hangings.

That rope might have the strength but is not easy to tie.
Do the best you can.

I still say no from the way you're describing. I don't think it's enough force. A neck with it's connecting tissues, ligaments, and muscles is a lot more resilient to breaking than you think. I just don't see it happening.

You do not normally break your neck. That is in executions or movies.
You block blood flow and pass out. The rest follows after that.
