avicii did it with a damn broken wine bottle i believe, and that actor from "dumb and dumber" did it with a knife... so those are 2 documented cases right there, official shit.

The carotid arteries are between 1 and 2 cm deep inside your neck and covered by various layers that would make it hard to physically do it yourself. There's like two or different muscles between the layer of skin that you can see and the carotid arteries and then the artery itself is encased in a sheath. You can def die by cutting a single one, but it's still very hard to do. Numbing it with ice cubes won't do much. 2 documented cases isn't enough, the likelihood of it working for somebody that isn't having a psychotic episode is very low as far as I know. Even then it's unlikely to work. Don't damage yourself needlessly.

It would be very painful dude, likely causing a lot of suffering before you even begin to pass out. I'm sorry you even have to think of such desperate measures but I would encourage you to find another method. I really hope you can find peace, please just be more gentle with yourself, you shouldn't suffer so much.

Would you die? Probably but it would be in no way pleasant. They are not easy to locate though and are quite hard to reach with all the muscle and stuff in the way. Also, unless you are in a state of intense psychosis you will not be able to cut them. You're SI will physically stop you from doing it. So it is a near-impossible non-method

There was someone here that did this and posted pics. I don't remember the outcome but they were still posting for some time afterwards. I think they failed, but I'm not certain.

This isn't a good method. As mentioned, your arteries are behind layers. You not only have to find them and cut through, but you need the courage to do so. And the odds of success are very much against you.

Avicii was likely in intense psychosis. I think most of the similar cases are the same. This cannot be planned and done with clear mind like other methods.

I'm also considering this method and believe it can be done as I succeeded in stabbing myself last year (although I survived). I think stabbing the carotid artery may result in death, however I believe the margin for error is high, as is the possibility of survival. My own experiences of inflicting deadly harm on my own body indicates that the human body doesn't die easy from physical injury. I think any attempt eith this method must be made with an understanding that survival is very possible.

I read about a man who killed himself this way in front of cops. It took him 5-15 minutes to die supposedly and it was a bloody mess.
