Venting My friend died 2 weeks ago and my father could die at any moment.

I'm completely devastated. My friend, who was only 24, died two weeks ago, homeless, in an abandoned building due to cardiorespiratory arrest. Obviously, I've been very, very sad, but I haven't had much suicidal thoughts. Now, it's my father who's going to die because he has severe pneumonia that has spread to his bloodstream and is now in his heart. A valve is affected, and the doctors say they can't operate. He's going to die, and I'm 800 km away. I'm traveling there next Monday, and I'm afraid he'll die before then.
I'm terrified, not only about the thought of death, but I also don't know how I'm going to survive something like that, and terrible things keep happening lately.

Fortunately, my boyfriend and his family. Plus, my friends will be coming a week later, so we can all get together for a different kind of farewell to our friend.

I'm so sorry. I hope you are able to make it to see your dad before he leaves. I think you being able to say goodbye will help both of you. I'm also sorry about your friend. It sounds like you have a great support system already in place which is great.

The doctors still haven't told him , so my brother asked me to fake it when I go??? I honestly don't understand that. How could they not tell him?

Maybe they are waiting to tell him once all their options have been exhausted. Maybe they want you there when they tell him. I'm sure he has spoken so highly about you to his medical team and they are looking forward to meeting you. We may never understand, but I think in a positive light they hold off until you are there.
My brother died recently in the hospital and no doctor told him he was dying. We had discussions about his condition, etc while he was in bed with his eyes open. I really believe he knew he was dying.

Thank you. What actually helps me when I miss him is thinking how he suffered his last days. It's comforting to know he doesn't have to suffer anymore. Death is hard, be strong for your dad when you go and tell him anything you need to before he transitions.
