I have this friend, whom I've known for years now, that always repeats the same exact shit like a broken radio.

Whenever we talk there isn't one single time where they don't mention school, complain over their classmates and how much work they gotta do.
It's so tiring.
It's like they don't have anything else going on in their life, no hobby no nothing.

Like what am I even supposed to say at this point? How many synonims of "mhm" or "that's rough" can I even find to answer?

I also graduated and I would very much not want to hear about school ever again: the topic makes me anxious.
I've already asked them in the past if we could talk about something else but they just end up saying: "well, I tell you what happens in my life like you tell me what happens in yours. If it bothers you I'll just stop I guess.." and they proceed to sulk and pull the "nobody cares about me" card.

Even when I was in school I don't think I would whine THIS much over it with them.
Fucking sucks.

Like fuck i would rather have you tell me about a movie u watched than this. But no.
It seems people would rather complain than anything else.

Have you considered... telling them?

Some people with severe anxiety and depression need a friend that they can not "mask" around. For some people, negativity is inescapable in their life.

I would definitely rather someone tell me that I'm a burden than see me this way.
