I was thinking of finding a nice park with little to no people at night. I was going for the partial hanging method. It takes about 10-20 seconds for someone to black out. After 5 minutes, brain cells die due to the lack of oxygen. Approximately 7-10 minutes is when asphyxiation finally kills someone. My fear is if the branch breaks or the rope slips while I'm blacked out and a significant amount of brain damage has occurred. I'll be left there unable to speak and move. It could be an agonizing death or even worse, someone finds me. I'll be forced fed through a tube the rest of my life. I think there are too many risks with the hanging method. SN I heard has a 84% fatality rate according to data from poison control. (I'll post the link if I find it again) Might just opt out for that. What do you think?

Don't know much about hanging but yes, SN does have a high fatality rate and from what I've heard, no lasting damage in the case of a failure.

Based purely on reports I've read on SaSu, I couldn't find a failed SN attempt that resulted in permanent damage, so if that's your concern it may be apt to start researching the substance.

Have you ever thought that there are no cases of SN brain damage because these people never made it back to tell the story?

My fear isn't death. But becoming in a vegetative if I fail

That's a good fear to have. Make sure you do everything you can to not fail. I have this fear, too, so I'm going to learn, plan, and practice where I can to make sure that doesn't happen.

It's possible for sure. One should definitely research this as one should anything else

Below is probably how I will look at between the two choices you are considering.

Rope SN
Location control Park, not as much controllable Assuming home, better control

Method reliability High when done correctly. High when done correctly.
Talking unforeseen issues and
assuming SN done properly.
Reliability is in same ballpark
(fair) (fair/ok)

Complexity Relatively simple (good) Takes planning (not too bad)

Peacefulness ok/fair (5-10mins) ok (20-50mins??)

Effect on people not too bad fair
who need to cleanup

Risk of becoming veggie ok fair/good

to me they are relatively similar in reliability and peacefulness methods. Please do not do rope in a park, I think you can find a better place if you look for one more exhaustively.

I have the same fear, to me it's absolutely horrific the thought of suicide failing. But I see death itself as being such a relief as I believe we simply just cease existing. Death is finally freedom from everything, but I hate how suicide is purposely made so difficult.

Honestly I have the same fears but I'm starting to wonder if those fears are legit in the sense of... if I become a vegetable my family wouldn't have the patience or desire to take care of me & no money to put me into a home or smthin so wouldn't I just be able to write a note telling em to end me if that happens?? They'd be too stupid to actual go through with it though. Feeling too much moral responsibility. So I'd just end up stuck with them. Not out of love or care but their own fears.

That's my thoughts now a days but maybe those are idealistic. I guarantee if I became a vegetable and my brother & Dad had to care for me they would say the most vile things thinking I couldn't understand and definitely neglect me. Have arguments and resent the hell out of me. So yeahhh definitely not the kinda life I wanna end up in. Ik they resent me now & say vile shit about me but at least I am alone/live alone & no longer under their control.

It's one of the things that held me back from suicide for years. It still is such a huge fear. Knowning S.I. can kick in at anytime is so scary & tbh im not entirely sure about SN fails being safe.

Side note but god I actually really fucking hate my family. They aren't good people & I've been fighting with them for 2 yrs to respect me & care about me. Shouldn't have to fight for people to care.

Great. Not sure why the formatting gets messed up and does not come as I wrote with spaces. Looks like the spaces get omitted when posted. Will highlight to admins and see if the formatting thing can be fixed. the jpeg file I attached has the proper formatting.
