My dog died today

I found my oldest dog dead today. She was 16 yrs old and I am relieved she is at peace. I knew the time was coming soon. She fell asleep right across from me and I found her dead when I woke up. I wish I was awake and holding her tightly when her time came.

Her death wants me to die. I'm heartbroken. I have 2 other dogs as well and know they need me to take care of then but also know my daughter would take them in and care for them 4ever.

I just want to die and go wherever she went.

I'm so sorry to hear about your beloved dog. You were both together a long time. But you have a daughter and two other dogs to love. I don't know if that is enough though. Just take time to grieve. You are still going through all the various stages of grief and it takes a while. No easy answers here. Just remember the good times you had. Stay strong!

I am so sorry to hear about your sweet dog. I understand completely. I have a 12 year old cat and quite honestly when she passes I am right behind her. She has loved me unconditionally for 12 years (unlike any human I've known) and I don't want to live without her. Again, I am so sorry to hear about your precious dog.

Yep, those happy memories are to be cherished. I lost two amazing dogs and 3 cats. I miss them everyday.

I wish us humans had the same ability as animals to just go to sleep and quietly pass away as we are usually tortured in our last stages in hospitals and nursing homes if we do reach that age. Sorry for your loss. When a horse knows it's time has come that it just goes somewhere secluded and quiet where they just lay down and slowly pass away.
