  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

In my country when young people commit suicide it is always in the news and people make it a political issue on twitter. 2 different groups (secular and conservative) blame each other. Some also say things that insult those who commit suicide. I don't want to be a part of this shit show. Would it be respected if I wrote in my letter that I don't want this? Or can my family sue those who make news using my name and photo?

I don't want to be in the news either, just because I don't want my method (or this site, if someone manages to connect the dots) to be cast in a negative light by it. Saying you don't want to be one the news in your letter is probably the best you can do.

Your family can certainly say no to the reporters, so hopefully if there is a news story on it, they use vague descriptions of what happened without using your name or photo. I don't know what kind of legal protections you have unfortunately, so I'm not sure what will happen if they get that kind of information from different sources and use it anyway.

Very little can be done i am afraid . Best that you can hope for probably is to mitigate the risk by doing it at home if possible and away from things like hotels and other amplifying factors.

Same. I hope after death, and even before too, I am forgotten and never thought of forever
