Hey y'all,

I am doing a bit if research into the success rate of SN CTB attempts.

I found this article that states that, in the U.S., 30% of SN attempts within the past 2 years succeeded: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33787434/

I will have to do a bit more digging today to understand this statistic better.

Best,

I understand anxiety and fear (believe me), but people really need to pay close attention to the content of an article before posting stats like these. The abstract indicates that 77% of patients included in the sample were treated with methylene blue (the only antidote for SN, which is only available when someone calls for help). Among *all* patients in the sample (including those who received the antidote), 30% died. This means that the mortality rate of SN is well above 30% if one does it correctly and doesn't call for help.

SN is *far* from perfect. If unsuccessful, it can cause kidney damage and is a very potent carcinogen. But it is extremely effective.

This thread seems to just be peoples' opinions about the issue: What the mortality rate would be if all things went perfectly; of course, the answerr to that question is 100%.

Methylene blue could be administered even if someone did not call for help.

General statistics are important to take in to consideration.

No method is a 100% guarantee and, unless you are among the lucky few who can access N, none is completely peaceful. SN is as close as possible to a very effective method if you fast, don't call for help, and use an anti-emetic, but it has its disadvantages like with any other method. I think anyone considering this method should do their research and - if there's even a little bit of hesitation/reluctance - to not go through with it. SN is a dangerous poison and not something to treat lightly.

But you are right to point out all the factors in the statistic.

If you do not vomit and drink enough sn, and also do not get caught within 4 hours i would say it is very fatal 85%-100%

What I meant is that if the SN somehow perfect conditions for it to work, including the physical factors like vomiting, it would work 100% of the time, same for overdosing on painkillers, for example. But that never happens in an imperfect world. So that's why this statistic is less than 100%, because vomiting occurred, someone found the recipient, etc., etc.
