I am 25 and it blows my mind how people can just go to a job they hate, working 5 days a week for 30-40 years.
Life would be different if we worked to actually build something meaningful. I always thought about how it would be nice to live in a small village, it may not have first world luxuries but at least my work would feel meaningful. In todays society we are all owned by huge corporations who do not give a fuck about you. The work if it be retail or a 6 figure position, you are still owned. You have to work 5 days a week, you get a few vacation days a year and can't escape the cage for long. its a sad part of reality. This is one of the main reasons I am going to CTB. I refused to be owned like a pawn and for what? What do you get in the end? Old age and regret. Most people use distractions to cope with this sad reality but even those are not enough for me anymore. I see through it all and refuse to be a slave. People will say, they are NOT slaves.... When you go to a job 5 days a week, most of what you make goes to housing, food, transport, and whatever is left if any is for entertainment to make yourself feel better I say that is fucking slavery! You are stuck in a certain location for the majority of your life, I just can't. I refuse to be a slave for 50 years just to die anyway.

Hey same age. And I can confirm that it does feel like slavery. I wake up and do a 9 - 17 every day with slightly above minimum wage, I eat slop because it's all I can afford, and spend the rest of my preciously slaved money on distractions. I feel like a drone in a hive, unimportant and expected to serve.

Cheers to that. Now I am not even sure I get to complain, work ethics aren't quite as bad here as in the US. That being said it still feels like utter slavery, like I am just showing up to whither away in some warehouse.

The part that confuses me is that most of us slaves will reproduce and create more slaves.

Those who feel this way might be interested in reading or listening to some of Noam Chomsky's work on Wage Slavery. Our society in the US is highly geared to extract as much from us as it possibly can. For christ's sake, the federal minimum wage is 7 dollars and 25 cents. C'mon. While the top .01% enjoy unprecedented gains, we suffer. Just where do we think they're getting those gains from? US! While workers lose out on wages, the wealthy make out with obscene amounts of money!! Every facet of our society has been sickened with this mindset. They will even deny us healthcare to satisfy their greed. It's disgusting!
