I read stan's guide to sn and searched people's posts on here and its implied that meto is the gold standard anti emetic but I'm a little concerned about the amount that is recommended. It's essentially a overdose and when I looked up side effects hallucinations are listed. If I hallucinate I may make a lot of noise out of fear or ask for help. This scares the hell out of me. I'm someone who vomits really easily though so should I just chance it? If I survive I worry about the effect a meto overdose may have on my body. Does anyone have any information or insight into the safety of meto? Thankyou.

Meto has black box warning about some other side effects, such as "tardi8ve ...(something)" that causes muscle spams in your face that you can't stop. Though I did get this, I would use a different antemitic, and I am stll considering an over-the-counter option.

They can be. It is called tardive dyskinesia. It usually doesn't causse this but it can from one big dose even- I have never taken it but if I do I will take it one, during the ctb process.
Sorry, just to clarify- have you taken meto before?
Now I'm reading that meto can be a contributing factor in causing serotonin syndrome which I am sensitive to developing and have had before. Wow, planning ctb is super demoralising.

Despite all the risks and difficulties, people still ctb- the more carefully planned the better chance of success. 1.64% of deaths in the u.s are by ctb. However, in the u.s., there are 22 failed attempts for every successful attempt. So planning makes a big difference, and it gets stressful because there are risks and of things going wrong- it gets complicated. People who carefully plan high percentage methods such as sn have a really good chance of success on the first attempt- 80 - 95% plus based on the posts I have seen, but there are no studies on this so this is an educated guess.

Drug injury scares me too. I feel like I'd be open to taking a normal dose on the day of ctb. I wouldn't test it and I wouldn't take more than the recommended dose. That's my preference. We all have our own boundaries with different risk factors. There are other anti-emetics to consider if the meto risk is simply not worth it. Domperidone is usually referenced. Maybe ondansetron? Not sure if that is okay for sn.
Can you clarify this...you say you did get those muscle spasms but you didn't take meto?
I meant though if I did get this- I loeft out the word if- just rushing with the typing, sorry. A nurse posted on here recently to say that she has seen this given many tines oevr the years and this side effect is rare, so I am back to considering this- this is a complicated topic for sure, because if you are one of the people who reacts like this it is a bad situation if you survive an attempt, but it seems quite rare- hopefully one attempt will work and you wouldn't have to worry about it.
Yeah it shouldn't matter I guess with a ctb attempt but as a drug casualty already I've learned the severity of the risk outweighs the rarity. My fear is I take the meto then chicken out of the SN and am left even worse than I already am.

I had a bad experience with meto years ago. Inability to sit still, face spasms and just all around panic I couldn't control. This is why when I try again I will be using Meclizine.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that it took a while to reach that point. I was doing the 48h method and when I reached about 30mg is when the symptoms became unbearable.
This is very helpful to know. Meclizine looks like a better bet to me- it has worked for at least one person I know who had a solid plan.
