I'm a teenage guy, I've been cutting non stop since early childhood. I used to do it so I could get the attention all my other depressed friends were getting. There was something really edgy and powerful about inflicting pain on yourself. Or atleast that's how my circle saw it in middle school.
Over the years I've continued the habit, but it became an addiction in a much more different sense. I stopped doing it so other people could see, I just did it so I could let the cold blood calm my racing suicidal mind.
Something I learned the harsh way is that the older a man gets, the less he's supposed to be emotional. Any semblance of desolation or un-motivation is a peg other men can use to step on you, and women will use as a red flag. The real world is very much different from my depressed friend group throughout middle school, and I've had to fight through highschool just to get people to see me as more than a chronic failure who will end up dead one day.
To any young guys out there, please don't cut, it'll ruin your life forever, and no one will feel sorry for you.
