I was on SSRIs for at least 15+ years. I went off of them around January/February this year (they never did help my depression). I now just use valium sometimes for high anxiety/hypervigilance, but valium doesn't always calm me down completely, either.

Nothing at all. I still felt pretty much the same as I do now when I was taking them.

I see.. ever been talk to your psychiatric about it?
Unfortunately, I can't afford to see a psychiatrist here. Sessions cost about $400-$700 each.

yep, I've been put on (and promptly taken off because nothing works) like... IDK, at least 10-15 different antidepressants, I genuinely lost track of them all, since I was a kid. they either do absolutely nothing for me (no difference) or make me violently ill. I'm currently on sertraline, and I have to take a half-pill of the smallest dose because of how sick it makes me. at some point my psychiatrist just gave up on trying any antidepressants with me bc they've been so useless for me lol. but trying to stick with the sertraline for a while longer just to see if anything happens this time.

oww that's a long time. is the dosage the same when you control? what meds u use?
Ive been on so many meds ive lost count. About 10 SSRIs, 2 SNRIs, 3 gastro meds, a mood stabiliser, 3 antipsychotics and a tricyclic antidepressant, all at varied dosages. It's been a nightmare trying to find anything that works! Plus short term ive been on clonazepam a few times

Over 7 or so years I've taken 5 different SSRIs, 2 SNRIs, 1 tricyclic, and 1 weird technically not an SSRI but still basically an SSRI, and all of which have done very little in the way of actually helping me. I've also taken quetiapine (generic for Seroquel) which I only found to be mildly useful as a sleep-aid.

Most helpful stuff I've had has been clonidine (alpha-2 agonist) and short-term diazepam (valium). Clonidine is for me increases the threshold of distress that would need to reach to make me unable to function while also making unbearable anxiety go away sooner. Also helps with sleep a little.

May i ask why seroquel didn't work out for you? What was your dosage? For me personally, seroquel is my holy grail, it calms me down & my mind gets quiet, no more intrusive thoughts!

Personally, it made my heartbeat kinda slower. But i totally agree with the nightmares, they're inevitable. Hope you're having a great day, take care of yourself.
