if life here is horrible, why should it be beautiful after we "died"? everything in the universe is action and reaction and we didn't do anything to deserve any kind of beauty, we were just born. In the end, the universe owes us nothing, so why should there be a "heaven" somewhere in the cosmos just for us? seems to me an overly optimistic and fanciful thought.
The idea of simply disappearing or the atoms rearranging itself into another living being seems to me a much more realistic "after death" than transcending to beauty or whatever.
