Making SN at home

I'm wondering if anyone here ever tried making SN at home? Would it be possible to get one withe very high purity with a simple setup at home?

I think that if someone has no experience in such matters, it simply won't work.

If I remember correctly, sodium nitrite can be made from sodium nitrate.

I'd imagine this would be very hard to do... or maybe it's my lucky day.
The purity you're going to get doing this at home is likely to be insufficient. Maybe a chemistry literate person can chime in.
