I feel guilty for even trying to get better because I will lose so many connections with not only people in this forum, but those in real life. I feel they will hate me for getting better and leaving them stuck where they are. And I have nothing in common with my friends who are healthy. Am I alone in this or even crazy for thinking it? Or am I maybe right in some way? I don't want to die anymore but I'm also not sure if I really want to get better...

Every time I see someone on here get better, it actually inspires me that there is hope. I think all of us here want to get better and will choose to be better if we can.

Change is often difficult. It is normal to feel that way. We are going nowhere. You won't lose us.

My opinion. If you are blessed enough to be given a second chance, take it. Do it for all those who can't.

Me too I just feel like I myself don't deserve it.

As a recovering addict, and also I have, many years ago i was looking to ctb. And in my opinion the best part about getting better ( and it's not all fucking rainbows and unicorns, we do the best we can.) Is then trying to spread hope and positivity to others. Listen, care, love, and most of all try our best to take care of ourselves. Its something that has grown for me. Over the years of recovery, I try and give back and help when I can. And the more I do the better I feel.

LET GO, GROW!

peace be with you

No. I felt the same way, and decided it's part of being depressed. Long-term depression affects your thinking like a virus, not willing to let go of you.

You will never lose the connection, even if you stop posting here. Experiencing darkness leaves it's mark. You'll probably be pro-choice, even if you fully recover, and you'll know on your own skin what others went through when they describe similar problems.

This isn't about deserving. There's no "global" fairness in the universe. The only thing you can really do is to try your hardest, whatever that means personally for you.

We're rooting for you here, wherever your road takes you next
