i plan on jumping on the fred hartman bridge in tx. tonight i wondered how i could even park on a bridge if there's nowhere for me to stop. if i got an uber, then i think they'd be curious why i'd want to be driven to the middle of a bridge an hour away from me. has anyone here parked at a bridge before? maybe i could ask to be dropped off further away, but the bridge is really long.

i figure i'm doing doing full suspension hanging if i have no easier option, but i can afford to get an uber to the woods. i'll be working on my license this month so i can't do an impulsive attempt, but i'm just weighing the options. i really don't want to be here in january because the thought depresses me so much. i have to leave before then. every night i think about how i want to have the option the leave.

Since there's no walkway on the bridge for pedestrians, which would allow you to just park your car on a street near either end of the bridge and just walk up to where you plan to jump, I'd just "break down" at the top, pull off to the side (I see there are areas on the sides for broken down cars to pull off the roadway), get out, run to the location where you'll be jumping, and just jump.

Gotta watch taking an uber somewhere, so it doesn't look "sus".

I've driven up on a bridge without a shoulder multiple times here's how I did it. Pull of the road and stop about 200ft from the start of the bridge. There should be a very tiny amount of space between the road and the guardrails that will allow you to walk up the bridge on foot and jump off. If there is a shoulder just park on the bridge and that will work well enough.

Some things to note: cars will be rushing past you very quickly and they will be very loud. Both times I 'attempted' this method the sound of the cars scared me off. Depending on how long it takes you to walk to the apex of the bridge someone may see you and try to stop you. Lastly, consider the landing when you jump. Landing in water vs concrete vs grass is very different and may lead to prolonged suffering/a failed attempt.

I'm sorry that your life lead you to considering this. Good luck and I hope that you're able to find the peace you're looking for. <3

no clue imo. the responses to the thread already made me wonder if i'll go to the bridge just to back down and go back home.

i've walked on the sides of roads before but walking next to a guard rail next to super fast cars sounds like it would blow my ears out. i'd be super close to cars even if i'd be safe since i'm next to the guard rail. all the houston bridges i listed have no walkway, so i'd have to be walking on the side of the bridge for a while and risk being seen by cars.

si kills me when i'm in the forest trying to hang myself because i get so nervous by it being quiet and dark, but bridges sound like the opposite because they're loud and you could be seen by anyone while trying to walk across it.

being disillusioned by how hard most methods are is really annoying. thank you for giving me advice, @YourLocalSadGirly. i made the post to get responses from people like you that have been on bridges before. i'm sorry that you're still dealing with suicidal thoughts as well.
