So I ve had an user DM me saying if someone was willing to chat with during this user, Cause it would be his or hers ( I dunno) last minutes on earth. I said yeah I dont mind to chat with you if it brings you some peace of mind, and no one had replied to the users thread anyway. Turned out to be the user, or Op like you say wanted to do a live Stream. I politely declined and said I didnt have the courage to see something graphic like that. Ive checked the op and turned he or her has been online lately which Im quite relieved. What would have you done?

What you did. If you can't handle seeing something like that then you shouldn't feel bad for it. Even in someone's final moments you shouldn't have to hurt your mental health to help them. That is their story and you don't have to be a part of it. Although if this is what they are truly looking for I hope they find someone to comfort them that won't mind or maybe be ok with just chatting.

I think you did the right thing for you.
I would have done the same, partly because I'm not sure I want to see someone kill themselves at the time they are doing so but also because I'd be paranoid that it's a set up & that I'd end up being charged for "encouraging" or "assisting" a Suicide which is illegal here.

I have a strong constitution but likewise I would have declined. Privacy issues aside, imagine if something had gone wrong and you were forced to watch on helplessly as the suicider suffered an agonising and unbearable demise - I'd prefer to live without that kind of guilt.

Even worse perhaps might be the aftermath, what if it were a young man or woman hanging at home when suddenly, just as you're about to log off, their parents burst in - that's a blood-curdling scream you'd never forget...

Shudder... I'd definitely have made the same choice.

I would have offered support up till the point they wanted to, then moved on and quit the conversation/live feed, as something like that should and is private. I would have let them know though before hand that it wouldn't be right through to the end.

Thats what I did. Anyway I checked the op today and its been online recently. Which for me its a relief in a way.

I'd be concerned about the legal ramifications. Laws tend to be quite fuzzy surrounding what is deemed as "encouraging" or "assisting." I feel like being present via live stream would open you up to potential investigation.

That being said, I wish I could be with someone as I pass. I don't think I could ever ask that of anyone, though.
