i was a teenage girl when one direction was big, this is. idk. always really messes me up when someone i used to idolize commits suicide. it happened before with jonghyun when he committed suicide too.

it just fucks me up that someone could have all the fame and external validation and approval that i could want and it still isn't enough to keep you around, it's still not good enough, happiness is just an empty lie.

it really is such a punch in the face if you're considering recovering because lol. you could have it all and still feel this hollowness. like no matter what you do you can't fix self hatred idk.

maybe it was just an accident and he wasn't secretly depressed and suicidal or something idk i hope he wasn't suffering like we are though, i don't think anyone deserves that, and if he was i hope he is at peace now.

All it shows is people can die by random fluke ways doesn't mean they are reliable. I read a story about a early 20's male that died from a 12 ft. fall.

He suffered a fractured skull from what I have read in the reports. Sometimes it's not only the height that counts but how and where you fall .

Fluke deaths should not be considered proof that risky methods *will* work and *won't* result in lifelong, debilitating disability. He just as easily could have fallen 3 floors and ended up in a vegetative state for years. Or fully paralyzed. Locked-in syndrome. Et cetera.

The reason why these methods are not recommended is because the risks are horribly high, they are likely unpleasant/painful, and if you fail you will 100% be worse off than before you tried.

Someone I knew died when their dog pulled them over and they hit their head. Anything that's strikes your head can kill you. It's reliability that's key for us

We're never allowed to say 'good for him' are we? Assuming it was deliberate. That said I feel for his little boy who is only six.
But if he has MH issues(as I understand he did) and it was deliberate then I'm pleased he got what he wanted. Messy way to go but wish I had the courage. Maybe getting shit faced first helps with this kind of death? Probably.

I have heard about this also. No matter what he did, It's tragic it ended like this. (Not excusing his behavior) He could have gotten help and maybe made amends.

rip at him. I didn't listen to his songs at all and I only knew him by name. I'm ashamed to say it but I'm jealous (I'm stressed at the idea of surviving the 20th because I might fall on grass). In my opinion it can't be suicide 100/ 100...from the 3rd floor there are too many risks... but good luck to him and sad news for his fans

I'm surprised how much it affected me, simply because i felt empathy for how he might have been feeling when he smashed the place up and fell/jumped. The frustration, desperation, rage, sadness, despair, the feeling of helplessness, at wanting to just lash out in pain. The feeling that your head is exploding and you'll do anything for it to stop. And no one who hasn't experienced that can truly understand. Omg I get it. And that's probably how I'm going to go in the end, minus the drugs and possibly the alcohol.

I think he was very very drunk and on drugs so Liam was very delirious and numb so mabye his CNS system was so depressed. I don't think its reliable tho, and you would have to be quite inebriated.

Still, I feel for Liam and feel really sad.

In his autopsy report they found a litany of drugs in his system, I don't know how he was still conscious at that point. I don't know if it was accidental or intentional. You could tell from social media that Liam had been struggling for a long while, and while I am glad he's no longer suffering the entire situation makes me incredibly sad as well especially for his young son.

Like many of the others on this thread I also loved one direction as a teenager, so hearing the news was really surreal. I always remembered Liam being marketed as the soft, quiet, well behaved and kind hearted character of the group, which must have been such a difficult image to maintain amidst the internal struggles he was grappling with. As he got older the facade slipped and you could tell he was really struggling as he turned to drugs and alcohol to cope.

May he rest in peace.

I thought it was interesting how most people seem to skip over the fact it was a suicide, and instantly talk about the drugs and problems he had. I forgot how the general public reacts to talking about suicides.
