• Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

Instead of ctb why don't we just all chill on a piece of property and like respect each other and do hobbies and farm.

In what world do you live in where we are allowed to disconnect from society without being rich?

Not in the US you can't lmao
Yes you can you can house 5 people in separate conditions comfortably on an acre of land. 15 if you keep it to tiny home structure. I've seen 37 acres go for 80 k the soil was rough and would need compost and the first few harvests would be badm

I just googled it and it's $12k per acre of land on average. I think most of us here are poor, but admittedly it's not as expensive as a I thought so if we REALLY wanted to it might be possible.

We are still humans, I don't think we would fare better down the line. Even if we had everything we need to live as a group we would end up just like all the people we criticise and treat each other badly.

Yea eventually there would be a social hierarchy and a culture , would be unique and cool though. plus I've done some farming it's relaxing and kind of fun but tiring.

I was honestly thinking about this yesterday. Well, being in a suicide cult... I kinda see why they do it tbh.

It is fine even if we disagree don't worry. I just answered truthfully. I don't have much faith in humans. I think we are just robots who are cursed with instincts and behaviour that always lead to things we see everywhere.

I don't think we can be helped.

The issue with communes is it's always run in a feudal style , all the food and living spaces are free, people work to keep it running but they typically have something that they do to get money for property taxes and anything you can't make on the property. The higher up the food chain the more your projects and hobbies get funded . The "leaders" typically manage where this goes. It's usually something like breeding dogs or horses that are worth a lot of money.

I have thought like this too. I just wonder what a "perfectly developed" human brain would think like.

We also have great hindsight terrible foresight lol

Same with a perfect society what would that even look like. Strange to think about.

I'm not sure the reality would be as nice as the vision. I imagine it's a lot of hard work. What if some people won't work? What if some claim they can't but you kind of suspect they're faking it? Do we all put the same amount of money in? What if some people can't? Again- how can you be sure that they can't? I wonder if mini societies just end up mirroring larger society. Ultimately- it's bringing together a disparate group of people with all different characters and ideas. I expect there would be power struggles, arguments, maybe even crime- just the same as the outside world. I'm so cynical of people! Even just sharing with flatmates brought out the worst in people.

I'd need to be in the state of mind to be reading the Recovery Section to even contemplate this. I'm more into suicide discussion … as in killing myself, not building a new life.

This idea have come up in my head a lot, and I think it would help. I notice a lot of people here need support of those who understand them. I can kinda imagine it. Daytime we all do a chore; farming, building, making food. Evenings we have things like movie nights, kareoki, enjoying our homebrewn SS beer. All while we support and love eachother: no lonelyness at all.
Might of just be my mind but I think it would help many of us.

In my case I'd prefer to cease existing regardless of the circumstances, I wish to die as existence is just undesirable in general, for me the problem lies in existence itself. Only death can prevent all future unnecessary suffering anyway and there is no limit as to how much one can suffer as long as they exist.

Nice in imagination, really difficult and unnecessary in reality.

It's a comforting thought, no doubts about it, OP. Sadly though, it might not be practical.
