I keep thinking about leelah alcorn and her note and how she did it so publicly. i don't know what my point is. i think about her a lot this time of year. her suicide note asked people to try and make the world a better place for others so they wouldn't need to ctb. i don't know if her note helped make change for the better or not though. i think about her siblings and wonder how they are doing and if they are ok.

Some people's life is a message. Some people's death is a message. No life or death is without impact or meaning. Leelah Alcorn, a young transgender, died by an impact from a truck, but indeed she made an impact on this world. Her suffering at the hands of society, from her own parents, didn't go unheard. Her dying wails reached Obama who requested ban on conversion therapy, following which 4 cities in Ohio - the state Leelah was from - banned that controversial practice.

It takes some time for society to change old habits and practices. And there will always be conflicts, the world can never be perfect because the definition of perfection shifts constantly.

i didn't know that about Obama requesting the ban on conversion therapy. I am glad some difference was made and I hope people are helping her siblings in ways Leelah would have wanted. I always think of her a lot this time of year. I think if/when I ctb I will leave a public suicide note the way she did but about other things.
