Our world has changed this year in an unprecedented manner.
The entire planet has been shut down, the world economy has been brought to the edge of a disaster, while the media has been spreading fear and panic 24/7.

Today is the 6th of October, 7AM in central Europe, 01AM on the Eastern coast of the US.
Up to right now, this year 1.046.000 people have supposedly died of Covid 19.
A great majority of them were senior citizens, people who have already been with a compromised health, many of whom on the edge of life and death even before Corona virus appeared.
Due to this, the entire world population has faced restrictions and fear mongering the likes of which have never been seen in the history of our civilization.

In comparison, during the same period of the last 9+ months, people have been dying of other causes as well:

- cancer: 6.282.000
- HIV: 1.286.000
- deaths caused by smoking: 3.825.000
- deaths caused by alcohol: 1.914.000
- car accidents: 1.033.000 (many also due to alcohol)
- suicides: 820.000
- deaths of children under the age of 5: 5.815.000
- malaria: 750.000
- abortions: almost 33 million

So, 1 out of 45 people have died of Covid (1M out of 45M total deaths in 2020).

Can you recall any of these (other than Covid) reasons causing nearly as much fuss - ever?
There is one day per year when we as a society address each of these causes... one day per year, as opposed to 24/7 covering of Covid on all media channels.
Suicides took 80% of what Covid did... while many of those suicides were young people, as opposed to the mostly old and chronically sick Covid fatalities.
How much media attention do suicides get? We barely get mentioned at all, while Corona shut down the world.

Without going into any discussion about the reasons of this entire situation, I am just presenting the numbers so all of us can look at them and use our common sense.
Is the worldwide panic and fear mongering justified?
Is this why the entire human race should be facing PTSD, anxiety and depression?
Is this a good enough reason to keep us socially alienated and distancing from each other?

What are you feeling, looking at these statistics, and then looking in the mirror?
Those who don't believe the source can do their own research... the end result will be almost identical.

Just sounds wrong to my ears. I think because this is when future dystopian sci fi films used to be set and it's starting to resemble one or because I've wasted so many years I feel like I've been in a coma. I was young and life was good. What have I done?

Without any measures this thing will spread like fire.
HIV had it's primetime a while ago.
Suicides should get more attention.
What are you feeling, looking at these statistics, and then looking in the mirror?
Feel like shit regardless.

The world is just going downhill, my life aswell. Imagine 2021 and all the other years to come.

I feel the same way.
Those of us who are a little older, felt that the world was moving forward at the end of the last century.
The USSR block ended, communism died, and there was a widespread sense of optimism... all the way until the year 2000.

It seems that this civilization had reached its peek at the turn of the century (and the millennium), but from then onward the downfall had began.
Perhaps the event of 9/11 was the turning point, the beginning of the end, when the NWO imposed its will onto the entire human race... no more individual freedom, no more privacy, cameras on every corner, with the excuse of "fighting terrorism" we have been swept of all our liberties.

9/11 was the first step, the 2008 financial crisis the 2nd step, and this Coronavirus hysteria being the final blow.
From now on we will all be living in a technocratic state just like China... no individual freedom, oppression of the masses, with each and every aspect of our lives monitored.
It won't take long until they outlaw the use of cash money and transfer the entire economy to digital currency... just like in China.

This Covid pandemics is used by the ruling class (the 1% that owns 2/3 of global resources) to download chronic fear into our DNA and to make us into obedient, low-paid work force which is no more free than the slaves used to be several centuries ago.
This civilization is definitely going downhill.
So when we CTB, we won't be leaving behind anything worth missing... other than a few loved ones.

The upcoming years are not something to look forward to.

I don't want to die of covid. It's highly contageous and a horrible way to die. So I don't go out around other people. I isolate myself at home. I'm not sure what your point is? That it's silly to worry or make a fuss about covid?
I just know I definitely don't want to catch it.

I've educated myself on this virus and what it does to people. Even those who survive can have long term severe health problems from the damage it does to multiple organs of the body. People have had their legs cut off due to blood clots. People have long term brain damage, liver and kidney damage from it. Strokes from it. Some have to be on lifetime kidney dialysis from it.

It's apparent those who try to downplay this disease don't know much about it.

I think the main reasons why there's such a fuss with Covid is 1) there's been 1.046.000 deaths from Covid, but that's WITH intensive protective measures. If no one had been quarantined, who knows how many deaths there could have been? 2) Covid is a novel virus, that seems to be much more contagious, virulent, and aggressive than its known cousin SRAS. The outbreak started pretty quickly (though if China wasn't so secretive, maybe we could've contained it better...), we still don't know how it works completely, we don't know the extent of the lasting effects on people that survived it, we don't know if it'll continue to evolve and produce new strains... Being kept in the unknown is incredibly scary for humans, hence the huge panic.
Meanwhile, issues like suicide have been present and known for centuries. We know how it works, we know the main causes, so humans feel less threatened by it. It's been 'put on the back of the mind', since it doesn't affect everyone, it doesn't feel like a threat to most people, unless it affects them personally. Which probably explains why people sometimes feel uncaring towards suicide; it simply doesn't concern them enough to take action. That's why I also believe that the only reason why governments try to prevent suicide, is so that they don't lose tax payers...

It's greedy doctors. The longer they keep sick dying patients alive the more money they can make off them. I've seen this with my own eyes when my mother was dying of cancer. They rush in, dozens of them doing as much as they possibly can to someone they know is in the process of dying and cannot be saved so they can make as much money as possible.

2020 hasn't been a whole lot different from last year for me, but that's just because I've spent the last 2 years being suicidal every day anyway. I expect 2021 will be worse and it will probably go downhill from there.

- abortions: almost 33 million

Sometimes I wish I was one of those 33 million that got aborted. Then I wouldn't be here wanting to die today.

Absolutely, except I'm Canadian (where doctors don't directly make money from their patients, at least in hospitals, as far as I know). The medical system is paid for by taxpayer money, so a doctor has no financial incentive to recommend a treatment (except if they get some sort of commission from pharma). So I think doctors act more from a mix of wanting to respect their hippocratic oath as to have a clear conscience, and because they legally have to help patients get better. Giving someone treatment actually costs everyone money and resources, so they try to kick you out of the hospital as soon as they can.
Edit: Sorry about your mom, though. I know from experience cancer is a whirlwind of though situations, and it's disgusting when people try to take advantage of that.

Id ignore the covid numbers, they're inflated to make people think that its like the plague or something, at the start if anyone tested positive for covid, then recovered then died from something else they'd record it as a covid death, which was incredibly stupid, so I'd take these numbers with a pinch of salt

Aren't you here for the same reason?

I probably smoke more than both your parents combined and I know the virus wouldn't kill me... because it has stopped killing after the first wave (even if you believe in it).
People are not dying any more... yes, even greater numbers are being reported throughout Europe than back in March, but the deaths have stopped.
Look it up.

Nonetheless to mention that we don't know how to cure it.
I get that sometimes newspapers and tv are TOO MUCH but I can't truly compare covid to smoking related deaths

I can't go to the doctors office, dentists office, into the DMV to renew my driver's license, into a grocery store, into a bank, into a salon to get a haircut, take a vacation and stay in a motel, sit out by a swimming pool, be in a room with people, all due to covid. How dare you dismiss it this way. My life is over because of it. I do not want to die on a ventilator.

Some people my age do go out and do things but it's only a matter of time before they catch it. I'm in a place where over 2500 people a week catch it. I don't know if you have an idea of what it does to people.

I too am so tired of all this fear mongering over covid-19 and it´s not an exaggeration about the media covering it 24/7 you can´t see any news without covid being brought up hell I can´t even go grocery shopping without seeing people with masks, hand sanitizers in every store, plastic shields in front of cashiers and lines drawn on the floor to show how far you should stand.

And I think people are overreacting way too much over this decease, I talked to my brother a few days ago and he said he knew someone who had got the virus and after his recovery he said that he´d rather have covid than the flu, I know it´s not a popular opinion since all these "scientists" supposedly said it´s way worse but this friend of my brother said it wasn´t so bad as they say it is. And I am sure in the statistics of covid deaths there were other factors that played in as OP stated like old people with severe physical illnesses on the edge of dying anyways or maybe even people dying in car accidents who got tested positive would be included.

Sure you can say that I am just saying people are treating this like it was the plague.
I'm not sure why you think it is not the plague because it is. Are you not reading about it? I do every day. Not from the "liberal media" either. Just informed. I check the death rates for each state in the US every day. I check the new cases rates and the death rates for my own state and country every day. This IS the plague.

If you tell me your state I will find the new cases number and deaths in the past month or week for you. See what you think?

Then find a few of the many videos of younger people who have it seemingly permanently? Or have had their legs cut off? Or are on kidney dialisis 3 times a week? or are so permanently brain damaged they no long can function?

Or the ones who had small family get togethers and now all but one of them have died?
