This might be super niche, but has anybody who used to, or currently, self-harm watched the KPop Demon Hunters movie? As someone who has battled with cutting and burning, I found my reaction to the movie very different from those who do/did not self-harm. The movie focuses a lot on shame and demonstrates this in the form of patterns on her body and those of demons. But when you have scars on your body from hurting yourself that you've hidden at pool parties and worn long sleeves in the middle of summer... it hits harder. Could just be me, though. Just curious.

I have seen it, and I felt really emotional for Rumi for feeling the way she did. I used to do it but I don't anymore. I don't have noticeable ones since they faded and were cat scratch deep scars, but the intense wave of guilt was left. So, I understood Rumi and teared up quite a bit.

I assume most people who did not self harm before only felt sympathy(?) For her, for believing it was her fault for being a demon. Then again, that's me projecting, believing someone wouldn't have the capacity to understand deep regret with their identity or whatnot.

Someone who has not experienced the harm could still understand the shame of showing who you are to someone, or in this case who you were at the time.

I did really like this movie. It's one of those ones you can't escape because even now I still hear the songs on the radio sometimes lol. I suppose I wasn't really thinking about self harm while watching it but looking back that does make a lot of sense. I am visibly scarred in multiple locations and recently I have been getting more and more comments because it's too hard to hide in the heat. It's embarrassing. I love my scars but I wish I could turn them off sometimes yk? Someone recently invited me to a pool party and I confided in her that I now dislike swimming because I have to wear a swim suit. She took it as a general body dysmorphia thing which is also true as I have an eating disorder but I have semi fresh cuts too that I do not want anyone to see. They will think I am crazy.
