Just random regular knots seem to work

On watchpeopledie, the knot around the neck often seems quickly done while standing on chair, definitely in the moment, behind the neck -- and success. I have watched many. They aren't even tightening and cinching. Especially it seems the Indian ones.

No elaborate arbor, noose, bowline etc.

What am I missing?

I could get the rope today and just do a firm knot and kick the chair.

I tried partial hanging even during a couple impulsive attempts when I was angry and upset. It's quite painful. It seems some people can locate their cartoid arteries easily while others like me can't. I can't speak for FSH hanging though. It looks painful for some, while quick for others (maybe the pain lasted for several seconds).
