junk email after joining ss

I got five spam emails yesterday, but I've been on SS for over two months. Anyone know why this might be? I haven't given out this email anywhere else. Did SS get hacked?

You can deactivate most of E-mail contacts on this section on Preferences



SS shouldn't send any other E-mail to you besides that.

If you could please check the sender's address, for it might be a case of phishing attack.

What do you mean by phishing attack? I deleted the emails and clicked unsubscribe in their links. Should I not have done that?

(In case it's not already evident, I know very little about technology.)

It's alright, You did the right thing.

Usually SS don't send E-mails that are not checked on the user preferences. But don't worry about it.
