@NoEasyWayOut

Thank you for answering questions, you're very courageous to cope with reliving the whole thing. Would you consider jumping again as a method?
Actually this is kind of like a therapy for me.. I hadn't considered ctb since this attempt but since autumn the idea is growing stronger again. Right now jumping is out of question for me, I'd rather go with a more peaceful method instead. Thanks for the questions!

This is a ridiculous waste of money. 200 million dollars spent and it's not going to solve the problem . It's only going to compell people to look for different ways to kill themselves.
It's not intented to solve the problem of the suicide, those measures are taken to hide it from public.

What would the chances be for a bridge 160ft above water?

I can get to a place ~135ft or ~42m above ground. This sounds like double the threshold mentioned above, give or take.

My question is this: since landing on the head seems the most obviously lethal way, how do I make sure that happens? If I fall backwards off the ledge will that do it? I really do not want to survive this for any length of time at all after impact.

Interestingly, the study advises that GGB jump survivors report:

"The experience of jumping for all six of the survivors was described as tranquil and peaceful and not frightening or terrifying as one might suspect".

"One survivor said,"It was a good feeling - no screaming. It was the most pleasant feeling I've ever had. I saw the horizon and the blue sky and I thought how beautiful it was." Another survivor said that at first he had a peaceful feeling and then he felt like he went into a "dream" . . . "I never felt I was dying." One subject stated that he experienced "a sense of relief" and "peace" on the way down.

"One subject said he "felt like a bird flying - total relief... I was looking forward to what was to come. Even now I'm symbolically still looking for the better world - I'm still in that place between the bridge and the water. "Another reported that his descent was "like eternity - beautiful - I enjoyed the sensation." As well as "One subject who described the first half of his descent as "peaceful, enjoyable and fun," before he realised he would hit the concrete piling" and moved around it.

Hell to the no. I jumped off a bridge. It was NOT peaceful, I repeat, it was not peaceful. I flailed my arms like some retarded bird hoping it could just lift me back. I squealed and retched from the pull. And then I hit the water and blacked out, and came to with foam surrounding my lips and people screaming and slapping my cheeks repeatedly.
It traumatised me so bad. I have major ptsd.
Also, Mungstener bridge in Solingen would be a good way to go, as in, few minutes of fear and Ill do myself in for sure, 100 meters gonna do it

Is anyone going to answer that question about how to ensure you fall on your head/neck? It's looking like I may actually have to go out this way, by jumping, and i really do not fancy an agonizing death.

Is anyone going to answer that question about how to ensure you fall on your head/neck?

By all accounts (that I've read, at least) there are no assurances as to how anyone will land.

I'd imagine a number of variables would influence that uncertainty:

Height of structure, wind speed & direction, wind gusts, bodily movements after release (sure to be influenced by SI) and one's previous experience with high diving/bungee/free fall and/or parachuting, to name a few.

One could imagine a number of jump scenarios where any or all of the above could come into play to either assist or hinder the jumper's conclusion.

It seems to me that there are only two constants that most can truly control: height of structure and landing surface. Of course a patient person could control weather/wind to a degree and get some diving experience beforehand.

Height is 135 ft or about 42 metres, surface is pure concrete. No experience diving, jumping, bungee'ing, etc. before. SI is a lot weaker than you'd expect, probably because I was first suicidal at the age of goddamn eight. If It gets to the point I'm seriously considering jumping, it will be approximately nil.

Would falling backwards off the platform and keeping my arms tucked and legs straight help at all?

Well, less than 150 ft over hard surface is generally not advised. That's kind of across the board.

Your method of falling might help with your plan but (I'm sorry), I just couldn't say for certain.
I don't believe anyone could. You could roll, tumble or otherwise lose any form or stability in the course of the drop.

I wish I could give you more assurances but (we're all plagued with this over many methods) there are risks.

I swear I'd been reading earlier that even half that is lethal if you fall on your head or neck. So many people die instantly even from shorter falls.

You're right,...and I'm aware of those that have.

There are plenty of freak accidents across the globe, so some are going to die from the "less than" limits imposed by others.

2-3 days ago an HK resident jumped or fell from a 4th floor condo balcony in Bangkok and succumbed. No solid info. about his landing but you almost gotta assume it was head first.

Is there a way to make sure you land head first? Thinking of falling backwards

As a jumping survivor I felt like I needed to comment here... Not really sure what to say though.

I commented previously in other threads that the height wasn't enough so I ended up in the hospital for one month aprox. After several surgeries and titanium implants, I've been able to have quite a normal life afterwards despite chronic pain in certain body parts.

About the feeling while jumping.. For me, it was like I was a feelingless robot before and during the jump (actually I think that's the reason why I was able to do it), but I remember I sighed while being on the air (a sound I'll never forget) and then I hit the ground and it was like suddenly waking up on cold water.. just tremendous pain and the strongest SI I had ever felt... I was able to even stand up despite all the broken bones and blood all over me. Crazy.

I'll be glad to answer any questions you may have if interested in this method according to my experience :)
Hi can I ask what were injuries?
I'm considering jumping but it's onto sand and only 80 foot and want to be prepared if I want to survive it

I wonder if there is any study on height/survival chance and on how to jump to increase the chances if dying. There is a relatively high building near, but it is not 100m

A jump from 40 feet is almost guaranteed to be fatal. 19 Meters

My jumping place of choice is a cliff that is some 270 meters or 880 feet into the sea . so far there is not fencing installed around it. so that's a good thing.

I'm doing OK. i was scheduled to go to work today and drove there. got into the building then had a panic attack. so taking today off. going to see my therapist again and try again tomorrow. but as far as the place to CTB, it just gives me piece of mind know that the place exists. but i don't plan on CBT'ing soon, i do want to get better.

I'm planning to jump off a bridge that is 364ft on Tuesday, I'm really worried about SI though and if I'll actually have the courage to do it

I don't think I could jump unless I'm under alcohol or drugs effects. I just pain to imagine such height. At the same time I don't know about any public place in my city heigh enough to access and then jump.

Another cons for me would be that even if I get a nice spot with enough heigth to be mortal I could also be potentially murdering smb by falling over them. Obviously if its over water woud be kinda safer for the rest.

Has anyone seen the ctb videos on www.kaotic.com ? One was posted on another thread. Some really shocking stuff. Definitely not for the faint hearted.
