• Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

I've been thinking of jumping from the top of a condo building roof top which is a little more than 5 stories. There are five floors and then a roof top. Is this high enough landing on concrete?

you need at least 50 meters.

I think 5 storeys is iffy. I've always heard 4 isn't high enough, so 5 probably suffices sometimes but not others. I wouldn't risk it.

It seems risky, 300 feet is the goal to avoid ending like a vegetable.

Interesting fact 1,880 feet (573 meters) is roughly enough distance for terminal velocity, it's about as fast as you can possibly fall.

Here is a handy calculator for energy and weight calculations:

For someone 100kg at terminal velocity falling 573m:
  • Speed at impact:105.98 m/s
  • or 381.51 km/h
  • Time until impact: 10.81 s
  • Energy at impact: 561540.00 joules
At 50m:
  • Speed at impact:31.30 m/s
  • or 112.70 km/h
  • Time until impact: 3.19 s
  • Energy at impact: 49000.00 joules
There is a HUGE difference in energy and speed based on height.

They said 300m is the "safe maximum" anything over that isn't useful
  • Speed at impact:76.68 m/s
  • or 276.05 km/h
  • Time until impact: 7.82 s
  • Energy at impact: 294000.00 joules
Golden gate bridge ~227.4 m (98% chance of death)
  • Speed at impact: 66.70 m/s
  • or 240.13 km/h
  • Time until impact: 6.81 s
  • Energy at impact: 222460.00 joules
Higher is better! A tall bridge or skyscraper observation deck is the easiest way. 5 stories is pretty low and might not be reliable. If you can travel to something higher, it'd have a better chance of success.

I don't recommend jumping from that height. I think it would need to be at least 10-15 stories.

It can be fatal, but there are high enough chances it will be not. I assume you don't want to become broken vegetable, so NO from me.

I've read of people dying at one story. I guess it's all about the individual circumstances. I wish this was easier. I no longer want to be here and I have no doubts about that. My only hesitation is a method i can afford that is accessible to me. I just wish I could just die in a freak accident get it all over with within guilt. Every time I here if someone dying I want to cry with jealousy.

I think you would just get multiple fractures and survive. You are better off jumping a 30 story building or minimum 20. To ensure you actually die,of course as high as possible to have larger impact when you hit the ground.

The recommended height onto concrete is 150 feet, for 95%+ fatality. Apparently, that's 10-15 stories (but I'd say closer to 15). Also, you can't control how you land, so the higher up, the better (to guard against problems of butt/foot landings).
