I would like to bring attention back to the human being, Jiwoon Hwang. A leading figure in the antinatalism community, and an advocate for pro-choice, he departed autumn 2018.
A great paper written by Jiwoon, "why it is always better to cease to exist":
This video makes me emotional. Not because he is gone, no, not at all. He is at pure peace. there can be no pain in nonexistence. I get emotional at how clearly he saw through the illusion, and how much of a terrible curse it is, to be anyone at all. the damage has already been done; we can only hope to leave swiftly and painlessly. As far as I see it, he is one of the most important human beings to ever exist; he reminds us that none of us were brought here with our consent, we had our lives imposed upon us, and it is perhaps the most rational, or at least the most empathetic choice you can make, to choose to undo the imposition.
I get emotional because of the very fact that he existed at all, had to learn these harsh truths, and ultimately had to take the matter into his own hands. i get emotional that i exist as well, had to learn the harsh truth of existence, and will have to undo the imposition myself, or at least wait until it inevitably comes naturally. i get emotional because i am human; i see myself in his short black hair, rectangle glasses, soft voice......perhaps we can take some solace in his peace. in the immortal peace of our unconceived generations of offspring. that they will never have to come into existence and relearn the horrors.
I can only hope we all find peace, eventually.
