This is probably much too late but I have to break my "no goodbye thread" rule and reply to this. I knew that this was coming, though I admit that when I saw this thread, it hit me a lot harder than I had expected. I'm sorry that you felt this was something that couldn't be avoided. You're incredibly bright and insightful, but even the most intelligent struggle to see what is available to them when they are in the thick of it. Then again, it is possible that there really was no other way, and if that is the case, I am so sorry that things could not have been different. More than anything, I hope that you will be okay, no matter what form "okay" takes.

Your meticulous approach to things and some of your quirks reminded me a little bit of someone very important to me. If I can be honest, I think it brought me some comfort. Thank you for being you. From all of the steps you took preparing things for "the after", it is clear to me that despite your suffering, you love(d) your family a great deal. I will be sure to think of them during this time.
