It's sad that people only ever care until it's too late

Instead of showing kindness to those who love them while they are around, they shun them and give them the cold shoulder. Only to ever care once they hear the news that they passed away...
It's also sad that signs and cries for help are almost always seen as "attention seeking", manipulation and whatnot. Why is it only after visibly seeing irreparable damage that hearts change?

I can relate to this. I suffered years of abuse from family members during my adolescence, now that I'm ready to commit suicide they care. It really is true many people don't care until it's too late.

The bitter irony being of course (in my case anyway) that it all could have been prevented had they shown they cared in the beginning.
