  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Where I live, there has been many suicides within the year. It's crazy to me how scared I am, and how on here we overthink and think that only N or SN is the way to go. These people didn't use N or SN. The methods included guns and hanging. What's crazy to me is how all these people...just left. They didn't overthink it, and it worked.

I wonder if we overthink/overcomplicate things to slow our inevitable CTB, Another weapon in Survival Instinct's vast arsenal.

I also wonder that, so many suicides impulsively without investigating anything and have been successful and some of us here have investigated, planned and have failed. I think it is one of the things that most frustrates me at the moment, I would like to know the answer.

I'm not sure if they did or didn't overthink it. I do hate how hesitant I am though. I tried to ctb once and I bailed. Life feels even scarier since because I feel like it's so hard to die. I must say I would feel so much better with a shotgun, I'm not from America though. But honestly getting nicely drunk and high and just "turning the switch off" feels so much nicer to me than SN or N. I would feel so much safer if I owned a shotgun.

For every such impulsive/unplanned but successful suicide you read about, there are probably 10 other impulsive attempts that failed. The latter wouldn't make it to the news or get counted in statistics. The overall odds of success of an impulsive/unplanned suicide would be quite low. With all our planning we are just trying to increase the odds of success, so I dont see it as overthinking.

But that said, I think there's definitely a "wanting it badly enough" factor that they have an edge over us in.

I bet many quick out of the blue suicides are a result of intoxication. Our guards are down when substances are involved.

I know for sure if guns were as widely available here (UK) as they are in the US, I would certainly not be here now.

I think it's ignorance. A lot of people don't understand suicide methods since they only get it from Television. I watch a lot of suicide videos, and nearly all of them are inspired by what you see on television.

So I guess they go into it with one expectation, but before they realise what's actually going on, it's too late. It could also explain people who attempt suicide, are saved, and are grateful for being saved.

I could be wrong obviously, but I think it's a cosmic irony that the more you know how to kill yourself, the less balls you have to do it.

I agree that it is better to plan and know what you're up against. I also agree that the attempts aren't recorded. But maybe the ones that died by hanging, looked up how to effectively tie a hanging noose. Idk. I wasn't there. But, the point of the post is how they achieved suicide. Whenever I think I am ready to go, I look at all the things that can go wrong. Maybe nothing will go wrong?

It does make hanging sound so much easier when you hear about all of the people succeeding with it, but in reality it's a difficult and risky method. It scares me and that is why I have never attempted before. If hanging was easy then there wouldn't be endless threads about it on here. I do envy those who are gone and their courage. Those who managed to ctb without N or SN must have gotten really desperate and just managed to leave. The people who are free from this existence are very lucky as they cannot suffer anymore.
