  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Just wanting some peace

In a world where there is so much unnecessary pain and suffering euthanasia should be legalised everywhere and people should be able to exit peacefully exactly when they want. There should be no secrecy, no hiding suicide plans, people should be to say that they are leaving and have their decision respected. Living should not be an obligation and no one should have to resort to such risky and awful methods to end their pain. A peaceful death at a time of our own choosing is the best death and it is what we deserve. It is cruel to try to force people to live. I am trapped in this world as it is so difficult to leave.

Death is the solution to all suffering and is my only solution as the thing that I have a problem with is life itself. There is nothing positive about being alive. By staying alive there is the chance of things getting so much worse and I also have to deal with the suffering I have to put up with everyday. By dying I would not have to deal with this pointless struggle anymore, what is the point to suffering for decades just to die eventually anyway.

People are already suffering enough and yet they have to deal with the fear of the method failing and being trapped in a worse quality of life. If we are all going to die eventually, then why make death so difficult, why make it so horrible. Living is just passing the time until we die and life is completely meaningless, we only exist for the sake of existing.

Even the pro lifers could turn suicidal and then they would want to exit peacefully. Why do other people think that they have a say in our lives. Eternal nothingness is where I belong and nothing can hurt me then. To me permanent sleep would be better than any life. Wanting to die can never be wrong to me, to be free from myself is all that I want.

Absolutely. We have to resort to extreme measures just to get relief. This truly is inhumane.

I agree with this for the most part and feel like in the future this may be the case (if society survived long enough) but I understand at least some of the arguments against it (age being one of them)

So a 22 year old with aggressive MS can't get help to die? 🤔

The only age restriction there should be for euthanasia are people under 21 shouldn't be allowed to decide to have their lives ended. When they are 21 is when I believe they have the cognitive ability to rationally decide that.

Yes people think they are so noble and good. While violating people's consent and causing further suffering via the prohibition of suicide. Freedom and consent are more important than preserving life against someone's will. Why should life be considered the moral standard? Life is where all suffering, grief, misery and pain happens. Death is the end of all suffering, all evidence indicates.

People with no first-hand experience or close ones affected by something have no grasp or understanding of the difficulty or ramifications of those going through the ringer. It very much is I feel/think like this & therefore surely others feel the same; if not you're clearly in the wrong & it will pass.

To sum it up no shits are given as they're not affected & no time or effort will be expended to learn as there is no benefit to do so.

A variety of reasons backup the thinking: religion; a waste of life; it's temporary; guilt-tripping; told it's immoral or sheer sadism of expecting them to suffer.

It's like 2 ppl speaking different languages with no understanding of the other.

Lolno. The right to human life only applies to those that are mentally suffering, but can still work and pay taxes. Unborn children? Death row inmates? Nah, they're okay to put down. People who are actually suffering through no fault of their own? Yeah, we are not THAT progressive.

To be fair, I feel that even those close to someone that are suffering would oppose euthanasia being legal. They'd be way too biased and don't want to lose their loved one. They'd rather try to get them "fixed".

I don't know that there is any specific age at which someone suddenly becomes capable of making a rational decision for themselves. We all develop at different rates.

Many of the folks against suicide feel that way due to religion. Others have just had it drilled in to them for so long that suicide is wrong, that they just can't think any other way about it. I also think others are against suicide because it makes them feel like society has failed and they take that as a personal failure. Society has failed, that's the whole point.

"On February 13, 2014, Belgium became the first country to allow voluntary child euthanasia without any age restriction.[27] However, a child must ask for the procedure and verify that they understand what will happen. The parents must also consent to euthanasia of the child. The child's doctor must confirm that they are "in a hopeless medical situation of constant and unbearable suffering that cannot be eased and which will cause death in the short term."
