Help Issues with private chat

I've gotten a good amount of people messaging me through the private chat. I'm able to read their messages and I respond but I never get a response back. Is there a reason why that's happening? How do I fix it? I don't want ppl thinking I've ignored their messages.

I'm able to respond through the dms no problem.

thats cus they can't see your messages as they don't have the requirements to public chat yet due to too low number of posts and/or not enough time spent here. If you see a person who probably doesn't have the requirements to public chat, make a conversation with them instead and explain about this problem to them.

I think it's due to people not having access to the private chat yet. Even without access you still have the option to send a message through it. If you do that though you won't actually be able to see the conversation or any of the responses. I thought access to it was based on activity, but I've heard it's actually based on account age. I have no idea which is correct.

Whenever I get a private chat message I just send them the other kind of message (the letter icon?). It's a confusing aspect of this site that I don't think I'll ever understand

Thanks guys! I'll move them over to dms instead. And @Namelesa im going to go like your suggestion so that hopefully it gets the attention it deserves, because that's stupid. lol
