Why do you think it has to be a traumatic experience? I've not attemped yet and therefore can only assume, but I'd imagine that finally fullfilling this longterm plan / wish for me would be pleasing & relieving in a way.

Dying in a car accident, from cancer, from an attacker, jumping off a bridge, etc. All this shits traumatic

I see, these ways are definitely painful I agree. I thought you were referring mostly to self-induced deaths.

Most self induced deaths are traumatic. Hanging, jumping, gun, cutting, drowning, etc

Depends on the method you're using I'd say. There are certainly ways to go out quick and painless. But I guess that's up to your individual perception and how strong your survival instinct really is.

It's matter of perspective. Some people really wants to continue believing a lie, for them death feels like the last option, the ultimate despair.

In the other hand, somebody who is very convinced could be somewhat relaxed. Specially people who really believe in the peace of the nothingless will suffer less. For them, it's the nost important part of life: a dignified ending.

Apart of your thoughts, the method can really be decisive on this. It highly depends of the method, the less pain, the less trauma.

I'm really hoping it won't be. I'm going to try to make it as untraumatic as possible. I try to remind myself that if there is a god, he will sympathize with me on taking myself out early.

Well, everyone dies. Sometimes it looks peaceful but is it? Just because someone's consciousness is reduced, does that mean they don't suffer? I suspect that there is no way to avoid experiencing death and the process, no matter how much one tries to make it peaceful, will still be traumatic, especially if its self induced.

Um... isn't this kind of a paradoxical statement? I mean, how can you be traumatized if you're dead?

The good thing is, it doesn't have to be traumatic. There are plenty of methods that are uncomfortable at most.

I think that there are many more traumatic ways to die.
I mean what's 10-20 sec of pain while being hanged by the neck compared to the "funky town" cartel execution vid for example? or anything from the top posts on /r/watchpeopledie... like when they pull this guy's heart out with their bare hands... we live in hell, I'm 99% sure of that.

It's your fear, anticipation, presumptions and endoctrination that makes it seem traumatic.

If someone where to just inject N in you without you knowing it for instance it wouldn't be traumatic at all, same if someone killed you in your sleep.

For me, i'll think of it as relieving, despite the survival mechanisms, despite any fear and angst i may feel.
