  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I wonder if it is. I'm currently writing one right now and I'm starting to feel like I'm wasting my time.

It depends on if you think some people will read it and learn something from it, and on whether it is worth the time and energy you are using on this. It's up to you.

I mean it depends entirely on how you view ctb. If you view it as something dramatic then writing a long and detailed letter about your life is normal. If you consider ctb as something done as an act of desperation and views it as pathetic then writing a long letter describing your life is uncharacteristic. It honestly depends on you as a person. If you want your family to have some closure on why you did what you did then write a detailed note. But know that if you survive then the note will be used as a template by shrinks to psychoanalyze you.

I have to write a hand note for my friend so she knows who to contact. It's not going to be anything personal, she knows how I feel, just a little 'put my body in a pot' , 'contact so and so' and 'give this to whoever' so they know that to do with me.

Your circumstances are unique; if writing a note gives you closure, then why not.

You don't owe anyone an explanation but it will make it easier for your family to move on.

Only you know if it's a waste of time or not, everyone's different. I planned on writing a main note then individual letters for people, but I don't think im going to end up going through with that idea because I don't see the point in it and what it'll achieve.

The only thing a note does is save police work. You're right, besides that, it won't do much.

If you've lost your motivation to keep writing, just put aside what you started (in a safe place, so no one stumbles across it), and start again when the motivation is back. You don't have to do it all in one go.

You may need to make a copy or two, or maybe e-mail, police confiscate suicide letters most times and the people you wrote to will never see it.

Of course only you can answer the question, but I do believe that a detailed suicide note could give those left behind some form of closure and understanding. I see it as best to just write what feels right for you, everyone is in different circumstances and situations. I would probably keep my note quite short personally but I understand the appeal of writing a longer note. I guess that if someone has a detailed note, those left behind will not be left with unanswered questions.

No, it is not a waste of time.

First, writing it down can be very cathartic and releasing, can give insight and change our perspective.
Why should you not feel better? Even if it is only at the end, you deserve peace, you have already lived hell.

Second, writing it down leaves a record of what you have experienced.
Someone may be able to learn from what you leave. Someone may be able to heal from what you leave.
Regardless of these factors, it is my own personal philosophical belief that our sole purpose of having consciousness, is to experience.
You have experienced.
Sharing those experiences proves that you lived and were a real person, despite how this life has treated you.
It may be a horror story, but Halloween has how many franchises now?

Write.
