Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

Hi, im curious if there's some resources on here or elsewhere for CTB by cutting throat?

What's the efficacy?

Also is brain damage likely if survived with this method?

Im trying to see if this is the right method for me. And also wanna make an educated decision.

Thank you, fellow friends!

I don't have stats on hand but I know with certainty that efficacy is low. What's the appeal of such a barbaric method for you?

That's a bummer to hear. My appeal is the readily availability of knives. Im willing to go through some pain if it means im not coming back. I also like this method because its barbaric as you mentioned. I hate myself and who i've become, its pain i deserve.

Im just tired, i want no part of this world anymore.

I don't have SN.

That really sounds like such a horrible way to leave this world. I'm sorry that you are suffering so much to get to this point. I am also very tired and I want nothing to do with life. I understand that it is hard to carry on when all you want is to leave. I wish you the best in whatever happens.

I don't have a lot of specifics, but any method where you bleed out had the potential for brain damage.

If your blood pressure gets so low you lose consciousness, but you are found and saved before you die, that's X amount of time your brain was oxygen-deprived. The results could be anything from a slight headache for several hours to complete paralysis, it just depends on how much damage is caused by the oxygen deprivation.

Sounds like a horrible way to go and such a bloody mess. First, if you cut your artery you'll watch blood pour and spurt until you lose consciousness. Second, most times family is left to clean up the mess or pay a biohazard crew to do it.
Certainly, not a plan I would choose

Yes you will bleed. But the idea of doing such action will se suffocation as you won't be able to breathe. With a gash in your trachea, you won't be able to inhale air and, thus, not reach your lungs for oxygen exchange to take place. This means oxygen deprivation to your brain leading to brain damage (anoxic brain injury). Unless you were to get immediate attention (say you did it right at the hospital), they may be able to keep you alive, but does not guarantee that you won't have damage to your brain.

However, of you meant cutting near your throat, and not your trachea, then I have no idea. I mean, which vessels would you be aiming to cut? I thought you meant actually cutting your trachea and chances of brain damage.

Cutting overall works less than 2% of the time in the u.s., which leaves a 98% chance of having to explain this scar to everyone-after an involuntary hospitalization.

I'd like to know more about this method too, if anyone knows anything. Surely there are ways around harming the trachea - when surgeons operate around the throat they don't just hack and slash willy nilly.
