  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I have decided to leave this realm notably due to incurable and debilitating disease.

As I am getting near this moment, I went through different states of mind and where I am now, l am convinced that suicide is not different than any
other form of death. It is uneasy to explain, but I think it happens for certain individuals because of the level of pain they have. It is just the only option that is left.
The person in whom Its invisible agony reaches a certain unendurable level will kill herself the same way a trapped person will eventually jump from the window of a burning high-rise.

Society will label and stigmatize suicide as bad, because death itself is being seen as something terrible.

We die for different reasons. We may have just finished our trip here, or we may face very difficult situations, and then deep inside we decide
that we do not want to be there anymore, and deep inside we decide to die (the inner cause).
The event called death may then take the form of suicide.
Death is not something to see as bad.

The difference is that with suicide, you have control over how and when you die and are making a conscious decision to do it. We don't get to have that with other kinds of death unfortunately, because those ones normally happen to people who don't want to die yet but it happens anyway.

Dying in general is probably still a bad thing when it happens to people who want to live still, but for us it's probably a good thing. Sorry to hear that you're so sick and can't be cured. Terminal illness is such a horrible thing for anyone to go through.

I'm sorry about your incurable disease. I agree that suicide is not different from other deaths, except in the way that it is viewed by the living. It is painful and ugly for them, but someday they too will be dead.

I'm so sorry you are in so much pain. I know for certain that I couldn't cope with physical illness.

I think ideas are shifting. It wouldn't surprise me if assisted suicide for the terminally ill becomes widespread over the coming years. Asides from the hardcore religious, I don't think many people see the good it holding on to a life full of chronic pain. The illness is going to kill the poor person in the end- why allow them to be tortured in the interim?

Still- I personally fear that's where the 'sympathy' towards suicide will end. I think there will continue to be controversy over mental illness because it isn't so visible and seems harder to diagnose and treat. Plus- I think most people will see the assisted suicide of a terminally ill patient differently to a teenager who hangs themselves.

I believe most people can get their heads around having chronic pain and wanting to leave but most other reasons are highly subjective. The younger the life and in some ways- the more promising the life- the worst people seem to react- all that lost potential etc.

I think you put it very well, everyone is different. Some people may have been through terrible trauma, others maybe not but deeply I'll and not really living, but just existing. I hope you receive peace whatever you choose, a good quality of life i believe is more important than the duration of life.

No, it really isn't that different, only suicide is choosing not to delay the inevitable and is taking control over our fate. Death really is the most normal and expected thing ever, therefore there should be no stigma attached towards voluntarily exiting and anyway it's completely irrational to see death as being a negative thing. The only negative lies in continuing to exist in this nightmarish world and non existence is the absence of everything that is wrong with existing. There are no disadvantages to being dead but if we exist there are unlimited opportunities and potential to suffer so unbearably. Life itself is the true problem and death is the only freedom and relief.
