I live in Germany and I really get that feeling.
I went to a couple of pro-Palestine protests but I won't have a career anyway because of my myriads of mental conditions.
There are many in Germany who in a very moralizing way position pro-Israel. And I get the feeling none of them would ever admit that maybe even a tiny percentage for this decision stems from vocational ambitions.
The most vocal pro-Israel voices were people who aimed for a good career at university. And that's simply the truth from the people I spoke to at college. They would never admitt it though. They would get highly offended.
If had a high ambitions I might would censor myself more. I am not free of hypocrisy. But at least I am admitting it.
In Germany many things are even illegal to express about Israel. I like to read Slavoj Zizek on this conflict but I think some of his remarks and comparisons might be unconstitutional to the German constitution. The purpose for explaining this is explicitly not condoning these statements. But the following is illegal where I live and I want to inform you about it. The quote "From the river to the sea" is illegal in Germany. Mackelmore is using it in one of his songs by the way. Comparing Israel to Nazi Germany like Secular Talk does it all the time is illegal where I live. And denying Israel's right to exist is illegal.
Is this illegal in other countries too?
