I want to use phenobarbital since N isn't available anywhere. Is it a good method?

Def bummed the N train has shipped off from the station. Phenobarbital (different than pentobarbital aka what N was a brand name of) can be used in a 5-drug cocktail for MAID such as DDMAPh: Digoxin 100 mg, Diazepam 1 gm, Morphine 15 gm, Amitriptyline 8gm, Phenobarbital 5 gm): https://www.acamaid.org/pharmacologyinfoupdates/

So it could be a viable option in that protocol, but takes a lot more effort and money to source all the things needed...phenobarbital alone isnt a reliable method.

With whatever you decide, I wish you all the best.

Considering it was prescribed for physician-assisted suicide in Oregon, Canada, the Netherlands yes I would say effective. (Bausch Health was the sole supplier of secobarbital sodium; the company discontinued making it in January 2022).

It is still apparently used in veterinary medicine in horses and cattle for euthanasia but would pose all the same, or even more, difficiulty as trying to get pento plus seco is leaps and bounds way more expensive (it's several thousand dollars for a bottle, at cost for vets, which makes sense why they do not prefer to use it, it is cost prohibitive/ridiculous when they have lower cost options). Would imagine it being something folks would not have any success in sourcing...good luck. And given it costs several grand, the markup on a resale would be outrageous; not realistic. If someone had that much money laying around they would have just about every option, including the Swiss option or sourcing what is needed for DDMAPh at their disposal. Just sayin'!

If you are looking for viable methods, check this thread:

Phenobarbital is not effective as drugs in general have very very low success rate ( less than 14%).
I imagine you could save them to use for anxiety with another method🌹💔

Can you give the source for this?
That is that user's estimates of overall drug ODs success rate, did not read it as one for Phenobarbital in particular. However although it does not really change the consensus that drug ODs are unrealiable, I put the overall drug OD success rate as significantly lower:

What sort of data is there about ODs? Don't people still die of medication ODs? Yes, there have been cases of people dying from lower amounts, but those instances are not reliable indicators. A comprehensive study involving 421,466 attempts at overdose using medications found that only 21,594 resulted in death (5.1%), often in individuals with existing and underlying health issues or using multiple drugs (including street obtain drugs with other substances). Other studies report success (for our purposes) rates ranging from 1-6%, although one report went to 8%, which puts the comprehensive study I've chosen above at the high-mid to higher end of the spectrum.

People are welcome to do thheir own extensive research though into this medication though to assses any potential success rates and weigh the strong indicators as to why it is an ineffective method to consider.

Hope you find everything you are looking for.
