Yes. I've tried it a few times, but it takes a long time and the pain becomes unbearable the more you sit there. Regular hanging is a better option.

I've tried this twice and yes it was unpleasant. What I remember of it is feeling a really sharp pinching in my neck like all my bones and muscles were being squeezed together ant a single point, and a really intense pressure in my temples and behind my eyes. Admittedly since I'm still here I was obviously doing something wrong but that's just my experience.
