I envy the elderly who pass away without any struggle or pain. How can I leave without pain like them?

Many elderly people die of heart attacks and strokes which are very much NOT painless.

It's a myth .one can Suffer for decades with many excruciatingly painful diseases like arthritis, dementia, alsheimer, trouble breathing ( carry oxygen tank), cancer etc. for which there is high probability in old age if u sum the probabilitiesof each hell . I worked in a nursing home. Absolute hell

This says arthritis hits about 50% of seniors . Hmm wonder why we never hear that but only "the golden years "

No. A study showed that in 80% of deaths from old age it is a long painful slow process. That's why euthanasia is very popular among the old actually, and they even get meds to ease the process. They fear dying painfully too.

Nope, not even close.

Even the people who died in their sleep suffered for ages until they reached that point.

There are people who die swiftly and then there are those I think the majority of seniors who wind down slowly. My grandma had a sudden cognitive decline and was bedridden for 2–3 years, before passing away. It felt awful seeing her in that state, she was almost unrecognizable to who she used to be. She couldn't eat much, even didn't remember a lot of us.

I think dying "naturally" might be rare... but I suspect the design of the human system is such that if you truly could live a "normal" life and not have a major disease or disability near the end, that a truly natural death should be painless. Why? Because pain is a diagnostic tool our body has to alert us to something going wrong so that we know to stop or address it. IF you truly are dying naturally, because the body is ready to go and has lived its logical lifespan, then the body would just be shutting down and the pain-alert system would not need to alert you, because what was happening was supposed to happen.

But as I started, such natural deaths might be rare.

It's very unusual for the elderly to die without pain. A few die in their sleep, the dream for everyone. Most though have pain and suffering over weeks, months, and years. I watched my Mom in her final two weeks of life. She said she felt "shitty". She was treated with morphine, she groaned and she whimpered.

Death is hard, bodies like to live. Harder when you are young and your body is strong, for sure. I share your wish for a quiet peaceful way out.
