I have bought a pack 4 months ago and I have opened it many times during that period. I opened it last night and it looked a bit wet and lumpy, it did not have any smell where as before it did have a sweet type of smell.

I wonder if it has deteriorated into nitrate due to being exposed to air and what would happen if I took it as it is now? I have read somewhere that nitrate turns into nitrite when ingested, so is there a possibility that it would turn back into nitrite when I take it? Sorry if this sounds really retarded, but chemistry was never my strong side.

I am not into the idea of cutting myself and mixing it with blood to test it.

You could still perform the aquarium test (search the forum)

SN, like many medicines, is best stored below 25 degrees Celsius, far from humidity and out of reach of light exposure and air moisture. Better assess than guess now. No comforting words will tell you the truth otherwise

I don't know where to get the aquarium test from or how much would it cost.

Btw it was stored in my drawer during the Summer, in the dark and far from moisture.

You could try a lancet device that diabetics use to draw blood and test.

a few days. And quicker if you pay extra for a premium delivery service like Amazon Prime, which is free to trial during the 1st month after you activate it. Then it could arrive in 1-2 days max

I never think about out of the norm plans. It just appears foolish for something this serious

In case you want to die then the worst thing is that you won't and might need to call for help.

Feeling very sick, being sick, maybe headaches, and other neurological symptoms, perhaps passing out, but without actually ctb'ing. But that's really a guess based on the assumption that it may have lost a bit of its potency.

Couldn't you get an aquarium test kit first?
Do you feel you need to ctb right now?

At this point,it would be cheaper to just order a new one than to mess around with ordering aquarium test kits.

I'm pretty sure you can get a test kit from a local shop, I found a dozen by searching for it in my language, then went and picked one up.

I have only one small pet shop in my town and I never saw aquarium test kits for sale there.

As others have said, either an aquarium test or a simple blood test should work fine.

Otherwise maybe you could dig down past the layer that was exposed to oxygen?

I did not do anything, it was kept in a container all the time, but it looks a bit moist, I think.

I found aquarium testing strips and this is what I got.
It doesn't look good.
Can anyone who knows anything about chemistry tell me what this means? It is odd that the color is not even slightly pink.

Moisture is the enemy of SN, but moisture in the air shouldn't be enough to screw it up. Clumping is natural, it will do that no matter what if there is no "anti-clumping agent", and having that might not be preferable as it's another variable. And the yellow is also normal. Loss of smell is most likely just because the smell adds up over time and now it's gone cause it's been opened.
If I were you I would just draw some blood, it's by far the easiest method.

that's why blood is easier. If it turns into soy sauce/dark chocolate sauce then you're good. If it doesn't do that and only turns slightly brown (or worse no colour change), then it's gone bad or you bought some fake stuff (though I haven't heard of that happening).

I believe you have to wait for a minute for the nitrite/nitrate part.
Maybe wait a bit after stirring it as well?
Sometimes it can give confusing results while still remaining lethal.
