I agree. I think the right to die is fundamental. It's truly the only right any living thing has. If you forbid a person to take their life, you are the jailer no matter how seemingly benevolent your intentions.

Yes, life is a jail. We were forced to exist without choice and we are denied the right to die. Society expecting people to live lives filled with suffering, against their wishes is cruel. A peaceful dignified death should be a basic human right.

I don't think so. You can leave life when ever you want. Someone ctbs ever 60 seconds. It's not easy, I wouldn't be here if it was, but no one really cares if you do or not( from a societal view) . Life is full of options, some people choose to be homeless, some people go off and live in the woods. There aren't really any rules to life. In prison you don't have that luxury.

I might be taking this to literally. Feeling trapped is never easy, and it can feel like a prison.

What I'm saying is that life has potential. A homeless person has the potential to buy a house (assuming they don't have a divisibility) Jail robs you of that potential for the duration of your time.

A bunch of people escape from jails everyday, it doesn't change the fact that it's still a prison.

What do you think of this ?
Yes life is a prison. They use legal and social constraints. For example they imprisoned Dr. Kervorkian to set an example for others not to aid in suicide. They criminalized nembutal. Many other examples. They made suicide a social taboo.

Nembutal pills were available by prescription decades ago.

Today if they decriminalized nembutal pills and allowed companies to make and sell nembutal pills online like other supplements or vitamins without a prescription needed.: Then how many more people would commit suicide per year? i think suicide would increase tremendously and then keep growing because people then get the idea and see how that is an option. The main reason they criminalized Nembutal is to stop people from commiting suicide. banning painless methods and stopping any one from aiding you creates a prohibition a prison .
What I'm saying is that life has potential. A homeless person has the potential to buy a house (assuming they don't have a divisibility) Jail robs you of that potential for the duration of your time.
What about someone disabled, demented, or older and homeless? At that point there is no hope to get a house or to get out of this prison called life.

It is not since we have the fundamental right to exit.
The jail, is the moral, hypocritical ethics, church alienation and emotional abuse of this freaking society claiming and installing on children's minds that life is sacred.
Life and death are natural and it is ours. Life is not compulsory nor its a gift its a choice like death is.

I don't feel life is a jail because there are methods to escape. Also, jail is a place to punish people. I don't think everyone who is born end up in a situation of wanting to CTB.

Well we live in a big ball from which it is difficult or should i say almost impossible to escape the ball is floating around in an area in black space which is unhabitable for life within light years of distance you are stuck on that ball with sadistic masters who are hogging most of the resources on the ball and they need you for labor so they won't even let you die with choice and peace and neither will let you live peacefully idk what to call it if not a prison a prison illusioned to look pretty from afar but ugly in reality.

It can certainly feel like it once the novelty wears off! I never have been able to understand why on a planet that has such an abundance of resources that somehow we can't find a way of sharing it out fairly. We have created a system that instead of permitting people to follow what they truly aspire to be, we push them into menial activities for a pittance so that they can just barely put a roof over their heads and food on the table, whilst simultaneously taking shit from people who are better off.

It's doesn't matter what you can truly offer the world, particularly if you are artistic for example, "who needs pretty pictures??" ---stinking rich people, that's who! Vincent Can Gogh lived in poverty suffered severe mental illness and blew his brains out! But his paintings sell into private collections for more money than he could count in his short life span. It's perverse, those same rich fanatics would step over him holding their noses if he lay dying in the street.

If you don't want to buy a ticket to the shitshow society will kick pretty hard back against that. Sure, you can try to drop out and live in a cave somewhere, but pretty soon someone is going to to insist that your right to do so should be curtailed. There's only one game in town, don't want to play it? Well you don't have a choice.

The depressing thing is that it really doesn't need to be like this. But that's how humans have built the world "monkeys with guns and money." It really does feel like living in this world is like being locked in a jail once you start to perceive the walls.

You should listen to Warren Zevon's Desperados Under the Eaves! (If you haven't already) The "Air conditioner symphony" is the most transcendent piece of music I've ever heard, air conditioning will never sound the same again! Here's a link...

Not prison, a torture chamber. A torture chamber where the torture varies from person to person and where the exit can be anything from a tiny broken shard-covered window to a smelly sewer.

As long as peaceful methods like N can't be easily and honestly obtained, then to me the analogy of life as a prison is perfectly accurate. Even with them available, one still has to overcome the prison jailor that is SI.

Life is a jail to some, a blessing to others.

And just like in the jail, you're not allowed to leave. No matter how bad is the jail. You're supposed to pay for your crimes.

I just ask, what were those crimes? Is Spiritism right about life? If so, then we are trapped in a universal cycle of death and rebirth, which is terrifying.
Even worse, could we be trapped in a cycle of miserable lives?
I don't even want to think about it.
